Typing the word: Word is "right" too soon

I have been away from memrise for a while, so I don’t know how long this has been going on. When I type in a word (during review), it is marked correct as soon as I have typed it, without me indicating I am finished. This doesn’t make sure I know the right answer. For example, if the correct answer is “canta,” but I think it’s “cantan,” I will get it right, even though I didn’t know the correct answer.

This is not helpful.

Here’s the 3 threads discussing the major changes that have been made by memrise. If you read through, there’s work arounds and scripts for some of the problems, though they continue to be a large annoyance. The lazy way to not have to deal with it is always beginning your answers with a capital letter.

Basically what you’re experiencing is the “auto accept” that was on the app. In course databases, there’s often multiple options accepted as answers but one line for the default answer. If you type in the default answer, it’s accepted automatically. Like you mentioned, this is counter-productive when the correct answer is a shorter form of what you were typing. Additionally, sometimes a longer and shorter English answer are both correct but you know one is more often used and you aren’t allowed to solidify that answer because the shorter one is accepted.
