It’s happened to me too, and i’ve been trying to figure out how to fix it in the userstyles script. Problem is, I know zero scripting, so inspecting element and trying to search it has been my go to method when trying to change stuff, except memrise has changed something that requires additions to the script, not just modifying what already exists there, so I have no idea how to fix it. I hope someone who knows what they’re doing can release an updated userstyle, it would be much appreciated. I’m so sick of memrise changing stuff like this constantly though.

Forgot to mention that i’m using the “Memrise Japanese - Learning Kanji with SJGL” userstyle. I’ve never used memrise’s default font.

Ah ok. Thanks. I hope they can go back to the previous style. The new one is a lot more baroque and less immediate for those who haven’t familiarity with the languae. Also, less readible when small.

At this point it looks like Memrise is trolling us. New font? Make it harder to read, that will teach them wanting to use our site.

No, you do not have eye problems. Yes, the fonts for Chinese was changed as well (AFAIK).

damn i was used to those ones … on the long term will not be bad but for now i will have trouble with them… now i must look if they changed korean as well … :unamused:

ok, they changed korean as well… i do not even wanna look at cyrilic

I don’t take the Japanese courses for English speakers, but take the opposit - courses for Japanese speakers. I came here to look for an update announcement and found your post. The same typographical change occurred to the Memrise official courses for Japanese speakers, ie from Gothic (non-serif fonts) to Mincho (serif). The Mincho font used looks a bit flimsy and faint (especially when the font size is smaller). The use of Gothic font is clear cut and preferred.

Hate the new fonts. The old fonts had a really cool style to them. I really hate all the changes they keep making to this site.

If anybody realize if and how is possible to go back to the previously adopted style… that would be great.

Seems either bug or a feature (i.e. Intended change).
Also one more report here

@BeaTrisy: is this a bug or intended?

PS: you are using the web right, or did it also happen in the Apps? Just to confirm.

i use web, chrome browser… where was worst than on firefox

Why move these threads to bugs? i’m sure most of us are aware that they aren’t a bug, but a change of font and and some other change that made userstyle scripts not work correctly anymore

Not a bug.

I had the same problem with Korean fonts. Very annoying.

You can resolve the problem by adding the “advanced font settings” chrome extension and choosing your own font.

Awesome I was looking for something like this! The font they were using prior to the update is “Open Sans (san-serif)” I do believe.
