Greetings everyone! 
I would like to share with you a way to change the fonts used in your favorite Memrise courses to (almost) whatever you want. I still think Memrise should implement a new setting that allows users to specify which fonts they want to use.
As originally suggested by user woody1, you we can use browser extensions to customize the look and feel of websites.
I had the same problem with Korean fonts. Very annoying.
You can resolve the problem by adding the “advanced font settings” chrome extension and choosing your own font.
Below are instructions for how to do this on a variety of the commonly used web browsers. Please follow the instructions for the web browser of your choice below.
This is a workaround, not a permanent solution. It isn’t as convenient as you might like it to be. These instructions are for PC (i.e. Full-featured Browsers).
- Extension Used - ReFont
- Mozilla Firefox Version - 59.0.3 (64-bit)
Let’s start with a before picture. I am going to change this font to “Open Sans (san-serif)”.
Now, onto the instructions!
- Visit the ReFont extension page by clicking on this link.
- Click on the button that says “+ Add to Firefox”.
- Click on the button that says “Add” in the notification that pops up.
- This will add a new button to the toolbar of Mozilla Firefox. Click the button to open the menu.
- Then, click the button at the bottom of the window that opens to add more fonts.
- Locate “Open Sans (san-serif)” in the list on the right and expand it. It’s #590 in the list.
- Check the box that says “regular”.
- Click on the button that says “<< Add Fonts To Library”.
- Head back to Memrise and expand the ReFont menu again by clicking on the item in the Mozilla Firefox toolbar.
- Change the default font to “Open Sans regular”.

- Click on the button that says “+ Add to Chrome”.
- Click on the button that says “Add extension” in the notification that pops up.
- This will add a new button to the toolbar of Google Chrome.
- Go to Memrise first, then click the button to open the menu.
- It should say you are changing font settings for www.memrise.com.
- Locate the drop-down menu for Font Name. Change this to “Open Sans”.
- Locate the drop-down menu for Font Weight. Change this to “Bolder”.
- Click the button that says “Done” at the bottom of the notification when you are finished.
