What IS it? New design happened too fast

I suppose that doesn’t’ matter (trying to edit in MemRise) as in a few weeks we will only be able to see and hence edit our courses in Decks.

Which is fine - the decks site looks pretty good. What’s the downside to using that?

Don’t like it either (just so that it’s said.)

Also signed up just to say this is a horrible change. The eye burn is real, the yellow is so no. Garden theme return would be lovely

Why in the world would anyone choose baby-poo yellow for a dominant colour???:face_vomiting::nauseated_face::face_vomiting:

Oh noes, my wife and me loved the old spacetravel theme and the sweet little design choices. Now it‘s just one big „wham“. No soul, no finesse. Makes me a sad panda after our 1 year subscription. :frowning:

the markings on the street and highways, traffic lights, papayas, these darn post-it, and sugar melons, and this and that just baby poo, all around, or? what for a sad life… and sick lil baby?

The save and continue button in decks is better. Unfortunately the editing page is worse. There is no horizontal scroll bar and when a course has a lot of columns you have to have the print so tiny to get all the columns in you can barely read the words.
I am doing some memrise courses as well which will remain on the memrise website.

id like to know aswell. seems like im not the only one who is genuinely disgusted by this. i just saw it yesterday i think but im already very convinced that it wont get any better with time (unless they ofc change it back or make it changeable). its REALLY bad but not only that, it was SO much better before…

Oooh that’s really cool! Their example is bit too flashy for memrise tho

Oh dear - I have been trying most functions in both the new mustard MemRise web and grey Decks web and commented on Decks in particular as that will affect courses I look after.

I knew in Decks after a session there wasn’t a vertical scroll (one had to zoom out) but I had not tried editing a column on the right to see if it were present.

PS

Just tried and you are right (of course). If I zoom out to 90% I can see and edit all seven columns but have to go to 80% to save.

Agree with most of what people have already said about this horrible redesign. I’m also seriously considering canceling my subscription.

Also I never checked out this “Decks” thing and only ever used the (formerly) wonderful Memrise app.

Seven columns would be bearable - I contribute to a polyglot course and it has 14. (There are columns for other languages). You need to look at the far left and right at the same time when editing.
Mind you even a horizontal scroll bar within the website has limitations if there are a lot of words in each level because you can’t see it when editing the words at the top!
Ideally there needs to be something where you can move the screen about like a smart phone screen! My mouse does up and down but not side to side.

I know the Polyglot courses but find them too multi-functional so I have kept to single pairs of languages, so I’m glad there are people like you who support them.

I have asked for a feature request to be able to move columns when a later one should be near (or the first Attribute) like on can on a Spreadsheet.

That would also solve that problem by moving the columns needing attention close to each other temporarily.

Have you noticed (unless I am missing something obvious) that you can go to the forums from the memrise homepage with a link but you can’t get back to the memrise home page from the forums. You could use the computer back arrow but that would be tedious if you had visited a lot of pages on the forums. Otherwise you have to remember to open the link in a new tab rather than just click on it.

I always open the Forum in a new tab (clicking Forum while holding CTRL on a Windows pc) so had not noticed, but you are correct.

My concern is that you can’t reach the Forum in one click from a Decks course and I’ve requested this function.

This is so horrible to look at, memrise why? Ok, so maybe the space theme wasn’t for everyone, but it felt really clean cut and finished. I’m at secondary school and use memrise a lot but now I’m thinking of switching over to quizlet or something else because it looks so bad. It feels like someone from one of the many exam boards took over memrise and tried to make it ‘fun’ and ‘engaging’ for people.
It’s really hard to navigate in the app as well, because the ‘learn words, speed review, etc.’ button covers about a quarter of the screen. The combination of garish mustard yellow, black and muted pastel colours for everything else just feels like memrise are trying to undermine themselves, and are trying to lose as many people as possible.

OMG I miss the old garden memrise so much. They disfigured and mutilated a perfect website.
They should launch a paid survey on the webs and ask random people what they prefer between the Garden, Space and Beach themes. Would be curious to see the result

What a horrible train wreck. using such a bright yellow design seems to be very amateurish. I would suggest giving users a choice in the theme, and using metrics to see what they are preferring. This new theme is terrible to use, especially at night.
