Web Beta Programme Feedback

Hi! in the previous version the attribute section was shown in lower case letters, which was great. Because the course author’s attributes showed stressed vowels, which were in capital. But now everything’s in capital. Would love if you changed it back and let it show the author’s version

BETA
I absolutely can’t use Listening skills in Beta. It isn’t listening practice but only reading. I learned reading when I was six years old. Can you return listening from one language (English) and choice from second language (Czech)? Otherwise it makes no sense.

Why is in Speed review only one-way direction? In old version is once English to Czech and than Czech to English.

And why I can’t see my mistakes when I write? It is very very important.

All the comments are spot on.

I really like the new beta visually, although there is something which grinds my gears a little bit. In the old version, when showing additional info (labels), those were able to display lower and upper case letters, which came in handy for showing stressed syllables, for example like this (see image, yellow highlighted area):

Opera Momentaufnahme_2021-04-21_002230_app.memrise.com

In the new version it’s all upper case. I’d be very happy if you’d allow upper and lower case letters in labels in the beta as well, or add some other option to display additional info on syllables and stress, because many languages really profit from such additional info to avoid confusion and learn words correctly from the get go. Thanks in advance!

I just realized that for the Danish (from English) Memrise courses, one cannot turn off audio tasks when you don’t have the option to listen to sounds (due to homeworking, travel, etc), in the Beta version when working on a computer/laptop.

Could this feature be returned? In the old version, this was no problem.

I don’t know if this is a bug or a feature, but it is pretty annoying. When you learn new words, it has been only teaching me half the word in that session, showing only a half-grown flower by the end. It means I sometimes have this thing where all the words I ‘learn’ in one go, are made up of half the words from the last lesson that I have not ‘fully’ learnt, and the other half new unseen words that I only learn halfway.

If this is a feature, please allow for settings to change it. If it is a bug, please fix it.

Thanks, still won’t stop me from enjoying memrise!

When the correct answer is entered, the input box automatically deletes my answer. I had to enter many times to succeed.(windows 10, chrome)

If the developer cannot reproduce the bug, please contact me via email.

Under the old (current) version of the course, there is a control that allows me to turn off audio exercises for a period of time. This control is missing from the beta of the new web version. I have occasions when I want to work on a lesson but do not have the ability to do an audio exercise. The drill on which I am working does not allow me to skip the item in question without marking it ‘wrong’.

I am using Microsoft Edge on an iMac Pro (2017). There is nothing for me to reproduce as far as an error goes.

I can confirm that this is also true Windows 10/Google Chrome. I too find this absence annoying, and I hope it can be reintroduced by the developers.

This may have been said before (by me and others) but when I finish revising a level, after the stats the only option is to continue (with whatever is offered) or to quit (:heavy_multiplication_x:) which takes me home to all my courses.

What I really wanted (and what used to happen) is to return me to the course so I could choose the level I wanted (not shown all my courses).

I have just noticed something different (and odd) on the Beta Web.

In the past when getting a typing question wrong the next time it appears it is NOT another typing attempt but pairing or matching from 8 choices.

But on the web Beta it gave me two more typing tests.

Tibetan characters are still too tiny to read them properly even whith the “Show Bigger” option.
I guess it’s the same problem as with the japanese kanji or chinese characters.

Please add the option to show characters “Much Bigger”.

When audio is auto-played after the correct answer in the test is accepted, it is cut off most of the time and the new question appears before you can hear the whole word.

In all other cases where the audio is played the word or term is complete.

Would be great to get the uninterrupted audio, as this is such a helpful feature.

Hello! I’m liking the new look and feel of the study and reviews on the website but please bring back mems. Even if you don’t want to bring back community mems it would be nice to have personal ones people can keep writing notes to themselves to help them learn vocabulary.

I have this issue with Japanese too!!! It’s very annoying.

The grey numbers are practically illegible with my screen settings. Can you make them easier to read?

The multiple choice option is too big for the screen so I need to scroll down to see all answers, or zoom out the entire window (to 80% at least).

Hi all

In general I’d say the new beta looks quite good!

But I miss a few things after the first test:

  • Option to turn Audio on/off during training
  • When typing a word in wrongly the old version showed me what I have written so that I can compare anf find exactly were I had a typo or so
  • The numbers before the answer options on the multiple choise questions are very hard to read - this is difficult in case you work with the keyboard instead of the mouse.

Would love if that would be amended!

I don’t usually object to cosmetic changes, but I agree with this comment about the coloring of the numbers. Somewhere around the mid-40s to early 50s, reading numbers like this gets really difficult. Dark letters on a light background would be a lot easier. It probably wouldn’t matter for people who primarily use the mouse, but I use the keyboard as much as possible to avoid repetitive motion pain in my shoulder.

Personally, I prefer all typing on review because it lets me check my spelling. My opinion on this probably wouldn’t be popular.
