Selected Memes Not Appearing

The Memes that I select do not appear after I get a question wrong.

They are still on the list of available Memes. The Memes that I have myself are still listed in my profile. And if I view the list of Mems for the words that I have just reviewed, all of my selected Memes are listed.

But the next time I review a word and get it wrong, no Meme appears.

I’ve had this happen with multiple courses: Comprehensive German Duolingo Voabulary, Duolingo for English Speakers, Anglo-Sawon/Old English Core Vocabulary, Proto-Indo-European Swadesh List, Old English (With Audio).

And I’ve had this with FireFox and Google Chrome Browsers.

Has anyone else had this problem?

This is a problem that many people have already complained about, and Memrise has chosen to ignore for months. You can see the other thread about it here:

Mems Disappearing

benton.1 I noticed a few days ago that when I select a Mem in the Duolingo German to help me remember a word, it doesn’t stay around, it disappears. It’s there when I select it, like it should be, but when I get the words the next time and make a mistake, the Mems I had chosen are gone. I’ve reselected the Mems three or four times and they’ve disappeared each time I’ve selected them. What’s up with that?

And you have clicked on the “always show mems” button? The one that is waaaaay down below the mem field?

This answer solves the problem.

Before, I had assumed that the “Always Show Mems” check box was only to provide a selection of mems to choose from for a specific word. I didn’t realize that it was to continue to provide mems for all of the words.
