Review broken again?

Well, at least it shows that maybe I’m unique in my problem, as I can’t even get the sessions to load; and no one else has piped up to substantiate my claim.

Just started reviewing: if I make a mistake, the mem is displayed but the ‘next’ button does nothing. The only way forward is to pause/exit. Come on Memrise - I have a huge backlog and limited time to catch up.

This is exactly my problem!
Why are there so many different problems? Do they have anything in common?

I should add, if I use the ‘enter button’ instead of the ‘next’ button to move on, I get the message: “We’re sorry, there was an error. The Memrise team have been notified and are getting on it”.
Do they have anything in common? Yes, Memrise don’t even bother to do even basic regression testing when they implement a change! I thought this style of ‘gungho’ programming went out years ago.

I’m surprised it’s just the three of us posting. No one reviewing today, or are we just ill-fated?

Time of day? More people using App?

Removed scary stacktrace screenshot

So no review today, it feels like “yeah!” as a first thought, but when I think about the size of the review for the next day, it becomes scary

Note: seems to reproduce only for entries with mems.

Update: problem fixed.

I’m having that same problem, the next button doesn’t work. It’s also not showing, when I make a mistake in typing, the word as I typed it erroneously. Also, for my own (Italian) course, where I have set up words so that the nouns may or may not be typed with the definite article, the “alternate” without the definite article is resulting in an error. Everything is just really messed up. One more thing, I have a bunch of Italian courses and have gone above 3,000 words that I’m behind on reviewing. I can do maybe 25 words and then I get an error message.

I’m having exactly the same problem: When I enter a wrong response, the next button stops working and a message pops up that there was an error. Clearing cache, restarting browser etc. does not help.

Huh, so it looks like there’s something wrong on my end because I’m the only one who can’t load a session. Sounds like this next bug is universal, though.

I think it really is the next-button that makes all this trouble - that would explain, why double clicking enter before produced the same problem: after clicking it once, the check-button becomes the next-button.

It might seem a strange question to ask, but did you check if a different PC reproduces the problem? (just a trying.everything-idea…)

You’re probably right. Or maybe I need to make sure my cache is cleared. I only have my laptop, and I’m not going to the library, bah.

In the wise words of The Bangles,

It’s just another manic Monday
I wish it were Sunday
’Cause that’s my fun day
My I don’t have to run day
It’s just another manic Monday :cold_sweat:

Ah, that is a shame - but maybe you could try running the desktop site on your moile phone? That is annoying, I admit, but it might provide further insight.

And one more thing to add: Courses with pictures (art, geography…) dont’t show the pictures (just an URL) anymore, which makes them unusable…

I think I’ll wait anyhow because if I end up fixing the problem only to be met with this next-button issue, then there’s really no hurry. I can just look up difficult words from some Japanese stuff I’ve written down, like 運動神経 lol

What? My problem of sessions not loading, or everyone else’s about the next button?

Here are all the problems I’m noticing, if it helps. I’m using a desktop computer with Firefox browser.

  1. Extremely slow to load, especially when default opening page is my bunch of Italian courses where I am 3,000 words behind. That may be just due to the large number of courses/words?

  2. When I type a noun without a definite article, for instance, “brina” instead of “la brina,” the word is marked incorrect, even though this is my own course where I have deliberately set it up to accept either alternative as the correct answer. God no, please don’t force me to type definite articles in Italian.

  3. “Next” button doesn’t work.

  4. When I try to do the Italian multiple-course review, as opposed to separate courses one at a time, it gives me odd numbers of words to review, like 22 words instead of 25. Then it only allows one review session, and after that is an error message. Before today, I was able to get around this problem by reviewing each course separately, but that now seems to be broken as well. Didn’t this happen the last time Memrise made big changes? (Hint: “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix.”)

  5. I tried a French course, but typed the right word and got an error message. I’d say Memrise is just totally out of commission at this point. :frowning:

Not necessarily, just “right answer check” could be out proper of function…
