I’ve recently completed a Memrise course (which isn’t mine) and yet on my home page (on my desktop browser), with the “With Goal Set” filter, I still see it listed (and in the Memrise app on my Android I can’t get rid of the daily goal, even though for whatever reason I could change the supposed “amount of words”). I don’t know if this is a bug, or if the daily goal is indeed still set but is merely hidden (again, for whatever reason), but I would like to remove the daily goal and remove it off the filter. How do I do that? How can I remove the set daily goal from a completed course?
A quick browse gets me here:
But apparently the quick fix doesn’t work, I don’t have any ignored words, and I do not want to restart the entire course just to later remove the daily goal when nearing course completion.
FYI, here is the course I completed:
(Yes, it’s the older German 1 course, I know. I’ve started it all the way back from around mid-2018 and only recently after I’ve completed it did I try to find German 2 and get confused, then realize that the official German course might have been revised. But that is for another topic.)
Any help would be greatly appreciated. If removing the daily goal from a completed course is not yet possible, then please implement that feature. Thanks in advance!
Alternatively a new category filter “Completed” would be nice.
But rather would I like to keep my completed course going with a streak, which is unfortunately not possible and keep in “With goal set”.
Did you know that you can quit a course without erasing the learning history?
Quit this course
From the popup dialog: “Quitting will not wipe your learning history, but will remove it entirely from your dashboard.
You can re-join the course to restore your progress at any point, but you will need to find it again in “Courses”. Are you sure you would like to quit?”
Ah, sorry! I should have read the FAQs or at least tried to click that button. Thanks for letting me know! I’ll try to “mark” this question as “answered”.
So, as far as I’ve understood, here’s how to remove the daily goal of a completed course without erasing progress:
Save the course’s link, as in copy-pasting it somewhere else, etc. This is especially if the course is unlisted or if it takes a while to find it by browsing.
Quit the course. Not restart!
Open the course’s link. Alternatively, you may browse for the course if it is not unlisted.
Add the course, as if you were only about to start the course.
Your course is now added, but it won’t have a daily goal, and your progress is not lost.
Hooray! Thank you, it worked!
I can imagine that the problem now is for those who still want a daily goal, even after the course is completed, say for reviewing. What I do know is that on mobile (or the Android version of the app at least), you can change the settings of an already-existing goal, not to remove it, but to change the supposed amount of words. If having a daily goal with the course ocompleted is not yet possible, I hope that that feature gets implemented soon, especially to keep that streak up. Good luck!
