Preview in random order

Once upon a time…
when we do a review of a level, the program starts it from the first word and runs down the list in order.
Now… the order is anyone’s guess.

Review was always in random order as far as I recall.
Preview goes in the same order as the level.

Preview shows you the learning screen for each item, and you don’t type anything; review quizzes you about each item, so it makes sense for it to be random order.

Are you talking about review or preview? Do you want to be quizzed, or do you just want to see them all (and perhaps hear the audio) ?

Your terminology is wrong: you are talking about practice sessions. That confused me.

Is this (new) behavior a feature or a bug? I actually like this better. Your usage: practicing the words before you learn them is not I imagine its intended use. If you want to see the words beforehand in order you can use like cos said: preview.

I’m not a novice. My terminology is wrong? I meant what I said. See snapshot - what does it say? The terminology is Memrise’s.

I agree it’s confusing. Your snapshot also however shows that you have not yet learned those words, so this cannot have been a review session. I just checked, you can also not practice words without having learned them, so this must have been a preview session.

So the text in that screenshot should have read, for maximum clarity: “Here are the items you’ve previewed”.

If this was a preview session, I agree that they should not be presented randomly.

To make sure what type of session this was, look at the url.

OMG. Sorry. The image doesn’t lie; it was me who lied  :scream: When I said “when we do a review”, the “p” got stuck - I meant a “preview”, as the image shows. The problem is clearly demonstrated in the image… or perhaps it isn’t… :confounded:

Let me try to explain the images again. There are 2 images. The first is from a preview and the second is a snapshot of the level, meaning, it shows the order or the items. As can be clearly seen (in the second image), the 3 marked (in red rectangle) are the final items in the level. However, in doing a preview, they appeared first. The first image is a snapshot of the summary you get after you’ve done a preview. Here is where Memrise has got the words wrong. Staff, please take note. It says "Here are the memories you reviewed when it should really say previewed.

That aside, the last 3 items on the level appeared first when I did the preview. This isn’t the first time is has happened. It’s happened in other courses, too.

For me, this is a bug (although it can sometimes prove an advantage…like when I want to add mems to the last items and I don’t have to preview the whole level to get to them… haha. Now, memrise will say that was the intention :laughing:)

Oh, lest I give the wrong impression, it’s not always the case that the last 3 come first… sometimes it appears what looks like randomly (as stated in my original post).

Ahah, you are talking about Preview.

I just went and tried it, and indeed, previewing a level now brings things up in random order, instead of sequentially like it should.

Definitely a bug.

Has there been any movement on this bug?

It makes it much harder to add memes to our courses.

I would really love to see this fixed.
