Hello! Let's introduce ourselves :)

Pardon me, if you don’t mind, but my brother LOVES the Warrior Cats and Survivor books. Those are some of his favorites and he is sometimes stingy about what he reads! I haven’t read them, yet, myself, but they sound interesting enough that I am intrigued. He also seems to like the Iron Trials by Holly Black (I think was the author’s name?). Do you know of any other books that are similar to them? I loved the Hunger Games books, but haven’t read Divergent. Might I ask what other books you guys have read?

Yes!
I want to read HG, but my dad says it’s super depressing so I’m kinda scared xD
I read Frankenstein a while ago, I didn’t like it very much, but it was okay.
Yes

I love the Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling, Minrs+Minrs 2 by Kevin Sylvester, Lord of The Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien, hmm, what else… I’ve read a LOT of books, but those are some of my favorites.

Thanks! I’ve never heard of Minrs before. I’ll be sure to check it out. I’ve read the Harry Potter series and they were all great in my opinion. Although, I’ve never read the Lord of the Rings (only The Hobbit and that was a few years ago). Have you ever read The Colour of Magic by Terry Pratchett? One of my favorites is Robin Hobbs’ Fitz and the Fool trilogy (along with the other books that follow those). She also did The Soldier’s Son trilogy (I’ve only read the first book, but I want to continue the rest of them).

Minrs is SO GOOD. But if you do read it, let me just warn you, there is a cliffhanger in book two and Kevin is not planning on making a book 3 :’( The Hobbit is really good too!

Nope, never read any of those xD

Thanks! I’ll warn you about Robin Hobbs’ books - she’s realistic with her characters (if they fall from a tall tower, they won’t be saved by a floating cloud :), they’ll most likely break a leg, if they’re lucky). Also, be wary if you read the third and four installments - The Liveship Trilogy and The Rain Wild Chronicles - for there are a couple parts in both series that were not so nice to read about (not exactly clean). Other than that, though, they were AMAZING! She really did well with the world building. Well, in my opinion, anyway. I felt that I was actually following in the world that she created. Oh, have you ever read The Inheritance Cycle by Christopher Paolini? I really enjoyed those books and they were completely clean.

Okay, good to know. And no, I haven’t read that either xD

Hi, everyone! =) I’m from Ukraine, my job involves dealing with languages, so I came here to improve my knowledge of English, which I used to learn along with German, French and Spanish. I have started learning Italian and Japanese (always wanted to learn them). There are so many languages here, that it’s really hard to choose one =) If you’re learning the same languages and need practice, I’ll be happy to communicate. It will be a mutually useful experience ))
Anyway, good luck to everyone in their study and have a lot of fun on this website! Also thanks a lot to people, who work on these cources. You’re great! =)

Hi everyone! I’m Kacper. I have started to learn Spanish for my own. Is there anyone who want to learn Spanish in “Groups”, a little bit of competition? Maybe we can create a group for beginners spanish learners? Or maybe there is already that group?
Nice to meet yo all!

I found Memrise to supplement the other French I’m studying. My two main courses are Pimsleur (in the car; morning commute) and Duolingo. I’m finding that the Memrise official courses work just fine as a third main course.

Of course, being the techy kind of guy, I thought I’d experiment with adding courses. I had just taken the first of three courses on Robotic Process Automation from the AICPA, and I thought about adding the terminology as a course. It was easy, so after running through the course once, I’ve added it to the site.

I’m also working on earning by Certified Governmental Financial Manager certification, which involves taking three tests. In order to keep the terms in my head, I have two in-process courses on the site. Once I’ve completed the first course, it will be released in the wild. The second one will be once I’ve completed the course and passed the test.

I’m also working on a few other courses related to accounting terminology. They will also be released after I’ve gone through the courses myself.

I’ve also got a private French tree for those terms I run across that aren’t from Duolingo or the official Memrise courses. I don’t know if I’ll ever release those, but they help me remember the new terminology.

Who am I? I’m a married father of two adult children. I’m learning French because I’d like to see the world when I retire, and French is an official language of more countries than any other except English. (I already know English.) I plan on taking the DELF examinations, but that has more to do with proving to myself what I can actually do.

Welcome everyone I’ve whose intro post I missed due to inattention! (So that’d be @elaine_ua, @EleonoraCheles90 and @DobreNoNie.)

Also, hello again @fredrikcoulter (sure I’ve seen you around, but you’re quite new – the meet and greet introduce-self post needs stickying. @MarshallLanguages, do you have the permissions to do this?).

I hadn’t realised so many countries had French as an official language! I’m also learning French (albeit very slowly because I’ve never been very good at romance languages). Hope you have more luck than me with the French and pass those tests your studying for : )
