Hi Iā€™m Isabelle or KOTLC_Faith! And Iā€™m learning Latin on Memrise for school because it is the root of all the languages. Iā€™m doing Spanish and French on Duolingo! I hope we can be friends

Did you know you can learn Latin on Duolingo?

Yes, but I think I have to learn it on Memrise because someone made a course of a Latin book I have. Thanks for asking though

Hi Emily, I completed my Duolingo tree like you and now on Memrise which has great courses. I have done French 1-7, Holiday Survival Kit, Intermediate French, Studio 1, Expo 1 Unit 1 & 2, Intro. French Vocab and now on Edexcel GCSE. My username is PondƩjon.

Hello everyone, Iā€™m new to Memrise so I decided to introduce myself and you can do the same!

My name is @KOTLC_Faith, I started doing Memrise maybe a few days ago so Iā€™m still pretty new to it. Iā€™m learning Latin for school because itā€™s the
root of most languages. I practice Spanish and French on Duolingo! But Iā€™m
so happy to be learning with the all of you! Feel free to tell something about yourselves!

(Sorry if this was kind of short)

Hi!
When I was in school and had to learn Latin I hated it. The book was boring, the teacher was boringā€¦
Years later I was fascinated by ancient documents and realised how useful it was to remember some stuff from those boring lessons and started to learn a bit more on my own.
Right now Iā€™m focused on Cornish or Kernewek and I enjoy it very much, itā€™s beautiful.
Wish you all the best and fun here in Memrise.

Nice to meet you too! Maybe you try it one day, you would see some interesting Latin roots. For example, teacher (f) is dyskadores. Lyver, lyvrow is book-books.
Maybe one day I try Latin here in Memrise too. Iā€™m doing it now in DuoLingo but the pronunciation is in my opinion really bad.

Thanks, Iā€™ll look into it
(Sorry for late response)

No, Itā€™s fine if you want to close it, but letā€™s see if @KarmenKern agrees.

Hi, iā€™m Isabel! Izzi for short!
Plainly said- I love Memrise. I always hated learning languages, took me months to learn a few words. And then my younger brother was acing through heaps of different languages, and I felt embarresed. My Mum really wanted me to learn Portuguese and Spanish, because we were supposed to go on holiday to Portugal and Chile within the next few months, and also, because she wanted us to honour our heritage. But until I found Memrise, I always sucked at it! :joy: But Duolingo is awesome too!

Hey everyone, Ive just started learning danish. I speak chinese, tiny bit of french. Im a family that speaks both English and Chinese but in 7th grade I learned French not learned French but was forced to do 100s of grammar, conjugation, reading comprehension, listening, vocabulary exercises. As you might tell I was sick of them so after getting a c in my final I decided I was gonna use duolingo i used it for a few months until I switched schools and had to learn Spanish so I made a jumped into a new curse and learned Spanish for 14 days but then I heard that I didnā€™t needed to learn Spanish and continued my French course but after a year of not practicing French I decided I was gonna challenge my self to learn a language in a year and I chose danish. I had danish ancestry so I chose it. I started with YouTube, learned some few phrases but didnā€™t work but then I discovered memrise and it was pretty amazing for what it offers for free I like duolingo but disliked the constant repetitiveness of doing each lesson and how this owl is always reminding you to do your daily practice. So yeah thatā€™s my story sorry if itā€™s insanely long I like to write a lot. Mange tak. Merci beacoup. č°¢č°¢ć€‚Thank you.

Hi @bainielsent63, here are some ideas for learning French. (And switch between resources to avoid boredom).

Learn the first 2000 words (includes audio) from:
*5000 Most Common French Words - by ciccero - Memrise

Work through the five Pimsleur comprehensive audio French courses (75 hrs total). These are expensive, but you may be able to borrow the courses from a public library.
*Pimsleur French Level 1 CD: Learn to Speak and Understand French with Pimsleur Language Programs (1) (Comprehensive): Pimsleur: 9780743518345: Amazon.com: Books ā€¦ etc.

Buy an introductory book (with audio), for example:
*GCSE French AQA Complete Revision & Practice (with Online Edition & Audio) (CGP GCSE French 9-1 Revision): Amazon.co.uk: CGP Books, CGP Books: 9781782945390: Books

Hey hey! My nameā€™s PJ, and Iā€™ve been on Memrise since I was 14(?) ā€¦ maybe 15 ā€¦ Iā€™ve been here for a while, but finally decided to unfold myself from my little introverted corner and meet new language lovers like myself.

Iā€™m learning Russian and French, and hope to learn Chinese, Italian, Hungarian, Polish and Hebrew someday as well. And Icelandic, Romanian, Ukrainian, Futhark ā€¦ Actually, I just want to learn as many languages as possible lol.

I love music (I play the cello ā€¦ not terribly well, though), art, and reading as well. And also wasting my time watching useless vine compilations on YouTube.

Nice to be here! Iā€™m excited to get to know everyone!

Welcome, nice to meet you and seeing you around! Thatā€™s an amazing project to be a polyglot musician! I had the same idea when I was younger but life and destiny are boxes full of surprises. However, when I was young we didnā€™t have such a fantastic thing like Memrise :grinning:
Iā€™m learning Cornish and a bit of nature here.

Nice to meet you too! Thanks so much, too! Itā€™ll be a challenge to be a polygot musician, but a fun one at that.
Thatā€™s so cool, Cornish seems like a really difficult language (for me at least lol). What is it about Cornish thatā€™s made you want to learn it? If you donā€™t mind me asking, of course
