I’ve noticed the past few weeks that courses are taking longer to load, both for new words and review sessions. I’ve looked at the list of known bugs, and I don’t think it’s a result of ghost entries (although who knows), so I figured I’d make a post.
Loading times are often between 10-20 seconds, while rarely they don’t load at all (maybe 1 in 30 times). This dramatically throws off the pace of learning. Anyone else experiencing this?
Edit: It now almost always doesn’t load at all. It times out and gives an error before the review session or new word session loads. Website is broken on all browsers. App is also not working.
I can confirm that I also see this - the delay is such that, first time in a session, I have a tendency to check if my WiFi still works, until I remember that Memrise has an issue
I’ve also been having issues with loading times around the websites - at the beginning of learning/review sessions, and also at the end when it is loading the summary screen - it will sometimes through up an “Oops” error as well. The main dashboard also feels a lot slower, too.
Yes, I’m having the same increased loading times for all sessions and sometimes you get the “Whoops! - Go back to dashboard/report bug” -message when it fails to load completely. This has been happening for couple of weeks now I think, usually reloading the page fixes it but sometimes it takes few tries.
Now I was getting this.I’m sure they’ll have a look at the issue tomorrow when they’re back in office since something is seriously wrong at the moment.

I’ve now raised this bug to our developers, so they can begin looking into what is causing the issue. I’m afraid I don’t have a timeline for how long this will take, but please do look out for future updates.
Hopefully they fix this post-haste, the site is currently pretty much unusable. Took me just now 6 reloads to get new word lessons to load.
It almost feels like the website is being DDoS’d or something since the problem comes and goes within minutes; it goes from not working at all to working perfectly.
My dashboard is just a white screen now, and when lessons do load, they aren’t able to complete and save the progress, so I’m having to do learning sessions repeatedly.
How can they respond to this like it’s some minor bug/side issue, when it is quite literally causing the entire website to not function properly? It should be priority #1, no?
The memrise site and ios app are both completely broken for me right now. Can’t load, issues logging in, can’t do lessons, reviews won’t load properly, nothing syncs.
I need like 5 refreshes now just to load the main page.
Memrise shows “Ups” after each review and the progress is not saved.
The site is unusable at the moment.
