Delay when loading courses - since June 2017

Hi @joshua, I reported this:

Two problems (June 2017):

  1. I have experienced the loading of pages and review sessions not only taking some time recently, but also displaying the information in a weird format for a split second on the left.

here 'Embed' links in Multimedia Levels no longer working [PPS Edit: Failed again!]

and you asked for more information.

Today it took longer and I managed to do a screen shot (cropped to only show the LHS of screen):

I am using a Windows 10 pc with a Firefox browser.

PS - I don’t know if this thread is related:

I also have re-experienced the second problem listed on that thread, which disappeared for a short while.

Even this is dreadfully slow this morning, and it’s made nonsense of my edit updates!
But I’m still getting 75 Mb/sec

maybe clean your browser

Many thanks - but how?

Empty the cache, clear your browsing history, maybe?

Thanks - I’ve done that and will monitor and report back.

I’m still getting that initial flash on the left but a bit quicker than this morning (ie it’s as before) but that may be the server isn’t so busy.

what browser do you use?

(cleaning the cache is not enough)

if you’re using firefox, you should have in the menu “Hilfe/Help”, and then “Informationen zur Fehlerbehebung” and then “Firefox bereinigen”/clean firefox. Do not forget to save (copypaste in some text processor) all your scripts (I have to do this with my scripts, because they have been personalised by a colleague of mine). Firefox will remember your passwords and shortcuts, but it will forget anything else. It will automatically save all info in a folder “alte firefox Dateien /old data”

Many thanks for that @Hydroptere, I never know about that!

I do have Firefox. Under “Give Firefox a tune up”, I didn’t have “clean firefox” but I did have “Refresh Firefox” which I guess is their translation.

I’ll let you know how it goes. (First try seemed much better - thanks.)

It looks to me like there’s a CSS file that’s loading slowly. Can you try using the Edge browser for a bit and see if things are better there? (They may not be the first time that you load the page, but they might be afterwards)

I have tried to stay on Firefox (a historical thing) but will do.
