Change update:

“avbrutt/interrupted” has been changed to “har avbrutt/has interrupted” to help differentiate from avbrøt.

Working on adding more audio… sorry about the delay in that. I thought for a time I was getting better audio, but that didn’t seem to work out yet.

Now that I’m finished with all of the audio, I’m going to go back through the first book and add some of the extra stuff that I may not have added during the first run through, such as sentences and such. This will mostly be in the first book since the second book is a bit more difficult with the Memrise format.

Those of you that have downloaded the course for offline use may want to delete the offline database and redownload periodically since I’ve seen that the app doesn’t usually update the course changes once it’s downloaded.

In Chapter 4, there’s a construction for i hvert fall, meaning in any case or at least. There’s also a separate mem for hvert with a definition of any. Hver/t usually means every or each, and i hvert fall is an idiom that doesn’t get a word-for-word English translation.

I don’t know if anyone is monitoring this forum, but I’ll give it a try. I have the same comments as SnakkerIkkeNorsk, whom I’ll quote below. There are a number of errors in this excellent course, and it would be nice to get them fixed. I’d be happy to help do it. Things like “tredevte” meaning “thirtieth”, not “thirty” and such. Anyway, from SnakkerIkkeNorsk:

Thanks for this course…awesomely helpful! Wonder if one thing can be fixed…when there is more than one Norwegian word translated to an English word, it can be impossible to pick the correct answer. For instance, in Speed Review the Norwegian word for “twenty-first” came up. There were 2 answer choices that both said “twenty-first.” One counted as a wrong answer and the other as a correct answer, but there was no way to distinguish. Aargh. A worse problem is that the Norwegian word for “thirtieth” is actually keyed to “thirty” as the answer, which is messing me up trying to learn the new vocabulary. Many thanks for the excellent course and I hope it wouldn’t be too much trouble to fix these difficulties.

I’m still around. This forum has been so slow with activity that I rely on the email notifications to tell me when somebody posts. I may have missed an email notice too…

I’ve had a few people over the last couple of years offer to proofread, but I haven’t actually got anybody to actually do the job of proofreading, so I mainly just rely on people in this forum to tell me about errors that they find. I can check on tredevte – that was probably just a typo from trying to get words added too quickly.

I’m wondering if the twenty-first is more of an issue with the Memrise platform than something that I can control.

Anyway, if you do want to be a contributor to proofread everything, that’ll be a lot of help. I’d like this to be as error free as possible.

I just looked at the word list… It looks like I had already fixed the error with tredevte.

Here’s a bit of a problem, though – chapter 16 of the book has several entries where two words that have the same meaning are listed. So, this is basically an issue with memrise’s platform that needs to be fixed by them. It’s looking at the definitions of two words as two different words, even if they are the same. So, instead of word A = B and C = B, it’s looking at it as A = B and C = D, even if B and D are the same. I’m not sure if adding alternate acceptable answers will work, but we can try. I know it will help when it comes to English to Norwegian translation, but it looks like the issue is coming from Norwegian to English.
