[Course Forum] The Mystery of Nils by Middangeard

This is the course forum for The Mystery of Nils course.

Please post any discussion related to the course here.

A bit of an update.

It’s been a difficult few months for me with being extremely busy as well as recovering from shoulder surgery. Hopefully I’ll be able to slowly get the last few chapters of the second book completed soon.

One of the biggest concerns for me right now is in spelling within the entire second book. If you see any place where I’ve made a typo, please tell me. While I was able to do the first book using many words already in the database, the second book is basically completely from scratch.

Do you need a contributor? I’ve got both of the books and I’d be happy to help out.

Another contributor to help add all remaining audio, the last few chapters, fix any mistakes, and add anything extra from the books that may help would be great. This is almost complete as it is, so there really won’t be a whole lot more to do.

Finally, all vocabulary of both books have been added!

The final count (unless I have missed anything) is 3,586 entries, making this a 61 hour course.

The next step is adding the rest of the audio. The first 1,200 words plus most of book 2 should have audio at the moment.

Please let us know if you see anything that needs corrected or have ideas of anything from either book that we could add.

the entry for Ă„ Ă„pne to open has the audio for Ă„ ville

Fixed. Tusen takk!

Hello Middangeard, this is Werner from Skapago. I’m extremely happy to see that you have made this course happen. I wonder if there is something we can do to help you with the course (and to thank you for your work). Would you please get in touch through our website (simply send us an email mentioning “Memrise”). Thanks so much!

I’ve sent you an email. Glad to hear from you!

Thank you very much for the course. I’ve just begun and noticed something on level 3.

For the syv - 7 item only syv is accepted, but for sju - 7, both sju and syv are accepted; moreover, when they come up as “type the norwegian for 7” there’s no way to tell which one, so I end up always typing syv.

Fixed! Sju and syv are now accepted for both.

This is just a little bit more of a difficult one for this course since we’re trying to make sure you know both words for seven. If you notice any more issues with seven, let me know.

Hey, I’m learning the vocabulary before I read the book, so perhaps this question is self-evident in the text, but why on level 8 are fisk and tennis without their articles?

I’m not entirely certain, nor do I know the technical terms for this - but in English we’d say ‘I eat fish’ or ‘I like tennis’ so you don’t necessarily need the article.

Just wanted to point out that in Kapittel 30, ‘to invest’ is â€˜Ă„ inverstere’ when it should be â€˜Ă„ investere’.

I’m assuming you meant for “en investering.” I just fixed this. Should be good now.

Whenever it’s presented like this in the course, it’s mainly because I’ve tried to preserve the words with how they’re presented in the book. I don’t have the book with me at the moment to check, but it’s very possible that these words were presented like this in the vocabulary due to context.

Yeah, I didn’t know if you were trying to be faithful to the text or what. It was just odd that other words had their articles and those two didn’t, so I thought it was an oversight! Thanks you the response.

In Kapittel 38, ‘led’ and ‘har lidt’ have the wrong definitions.

Cheers for all your hard work on this course - much appreciated

I had a bit of trouble trying to find this. It was actually chapter 32, which is lesson 38 on Memrise. Just be careful to not confuse the two.

I’m not sure at all what happened with this one. It looks like somehow the definition for Ă„ riste got copied into that.

Hey, on level 13, you have en dagdrþmm. Shouldn’t this be en dagdrþm (one m)?
