[Course Forum] Spanish 1 to 7 by Memrise

You actually have both female and male audios for all items, you just have to log out and in again to be able to hear them!

hi,
I have found a mistake in audio for the course “Spanish (Spain) - 6”. Level 9 http://www.memrise.com/course/1179788/spanish-spain-6/9/

The phrase itself is “Afronta los hechos” (imperativo), but the male voice says “Afrontar los hechos” instead. The female voice pronounces the correct phrase.

Thanks and keep up the good job

@lenagardariki you are right! well spotted, good listening skills! I will delete the wrong audio. Thank you!

Best,

Ángela

Spanish (Spain) 6 Level 16

mi hija quiere ser una estrella de pop=my daughter wants to be a pop star

Previously in the same level: una estrella del pop= a pop star.

Looks like there’s a typo in one or the other.

Thanks

Hi Ángela
You are probably correct but that is only via tests.
If (on android app) you select the level containing the word/phrase and then select the word you will see only one speaker icon and it will play only one audio.
This is true for all words / courses (at least on my galaxy tab and galaxy s3).

When you’re are reviewing on app… you hear both at times

Spaans 2, level 4
ahí - daar

I guess one daar is for ahí and the other one is for allí. Did you pick the correct on? Maybe both are correct? I had it the otherway. Question was there and I had to choose between ahí and allí. I chose the wrong one.

There is no allí iin this particular course. And I picked the wrong one…

Yes there is. Maybe you just have not seen it yet. Phrases are all the same,
just in different languages. In English it might be smth like the park is
over there
. There is even a video with allí in it -skinny girl with long
straight hair saying.

I only encountered this allí/ahí thing once, when I also picked the wrong
one.

I mean allí is not in this course Spaans 2/Spanish 2. So it should not be possible that it appears in a multiple choice question.

By the way the sentences in this family of courses are almost the same across languages but not totally identical. For instance in level 1 of this course it teaches you the name of the country and language you are learning from.

I would just put (form) or (inform) after the sentence myself. That way the info does not break up the visual flow of the sentence.

I think it’s a matter of personal choice, and I’ve experimented with both methods.

Personally, I feel that reading through to the end of an English phrase to determine which form of Spanish “you” to use is less efficient, and slows down the learning process.

Perhaps Memrise could run some experiments with a sample of learners to determine which method works better?

There are singular and plural forms on both formal and informal you… so Ud will take only 2 characters to say formal singular and Uds only 3 characters to mark formal plural

Different strokes for different folks. Doesn’t matter to me, since I do this kind of thing on a spreadsheet.

Hi @LarBoylan,

Have you already logged out and in again and re-downloaded the course? It should work to see both audios.

Ángela

Hi @duaal,

Thank you very much for your post, you are right it certainly is an error and we will work to fix it! I’ve asked my colleague @MerlijnB to have a look. Thank you for your feedback.

Hi!

Thanks for letting us know. I’ve now added a little more info to the item “ahí” (relatief dicht bij de spreker), and left “allí”, which appears later on in Section 3, as it is. Both items will still be translated with “daar”, as we don’t have the same nuances in Dutch in this case, but you’ll be able to distinguish them by the added information in brackets to “ahí”.

Thanks again for bringing this to our attention!

Best,

Merlijn

Hi Ángela

Thanks for the reply. But yes I have logged out and in, but I think you are missing my point.
I am not referring to reviewing or learning modes. I refer to preview i.e… on app select level - select item you can only see 1 speaker icon and there is only one audio.
So unless you do multiple reviews on a level and wait for that item to come in (possibly several times to catch all audios) you will not know if it has one or more audios.

Thanks
Lar
