Is my perception correct that we’ll have a while longer to wait for the new 1-3? At least when compared with your anticipation of pending release back in November. I’m trying to make a plan with five months to go until I return to Japan, and am at a bit of a crossroads. On top of 1-3 I’ve now memorized the Genki 1 vocabulary and am going through the workbook, plus reviews of 1-3 and Katakana. I’m now looking to find time for an additional half hour of daily practice, but I’m not sure whether to keep waiting here or dive into one of the JLPT N5 courses. Any thoughts?
It can’t hurt to do the N5 course can it?
In Japanese 2, Level 4, “to understand” has the Japanese “わたしはわかります”. This reads to me as “I understand”, and the audio also simply says “わかります”. Removing the “わたし” at the start would fix it I think, since the audio matches.
Well of course, it can’t hurt to learn anything. It’s more a question of being strategic with my learning and creating a road map/goals going forward. I also ask for an update given that I bought a pro membership months ago on the premise of what appeared to be the availability of a fully fleshed out 1-7 course (versus considering other spaced repetition systems which can also run decks for N5, Genki, etc). For now at least, I give the benefit of the doubt because the communication has been so strong from Mariko in this thread.

Hi! I hope everyone is having a great start to the week 
Just dropping by to give updates on the Japanese courses. The full script course 1-3 is done, and has been placed in the queue to be uploaded. My part is done and I’ve handed the course to the tech team, who I believe will upload the course within a week. The romaji course 1-3 will be released in the following weeks (the content will be same as full script 1-3).
I’m sorry to inform you guys that 4 - 7 is not going to be available in this release. I honestly cannot tell you at this point when Japanese 4-7 will be ready for release.
I do agree with @Bryan_Gilstein8, that while no learning is ever useless, there are strategic ways of planning the process; and I admit that we have mispresented this course to have all 7 sections available from the start. While I appreciate all your support through buying the Pro membership, I want everyone to be happy with their experience with the app! I hope this update helps you plan your learning better. Thanks.

Glad to hear you have everything prepared for Japanese 1-3. I think you have done an absolutely amazing job connecting with the community here and actively fixing the course, and I think we all appreciate all the work you have done. We have waited this long for the full script course 1-3. We can wait more for a well done 4-7. Also met the “water” one…can this be fixed? I am getting a “difficult” rating for a kanji that is not difficult at all, i just miss the correct answer because there’s always 2 identical answers.
Hello! I’ve seen the post saying that all the verbs are in their polite form, but then why “to pay” is はらう、not はらいます? Japanese-3, Level 6.

Now one answer is water (kanji), and other is water, so that you can distinguish which one you’re being tested on in MC tests. Please let me know if there are any other problems. Thanks!

Thank you for your comment. The inconsistencies in verb forms (polite VS casual) are being fixed in the updated courses, and no work is going to be done on the current versions I’m afraid.

hi, I just hope it’ll help to achieve some integrity, though I personally think plain forms are better for study purpose:) Also, there is かく（書く ）in Japanese-3 level 15.

I’m currently taking the Japanese 1 course and I don’t always want to use the mobile app. However when I’m on the web site instead I’ve been frustrated because there is no simple way to input the Hiragana characters that are being asked for (I’ve resorted to copy/pasting them).
What I find most confusing is when they ask for the Japanese word for the English given, sometimes they want it in Hiragana and sometimes in Romaji and it never indicates which, so I’ve been dinged several times when I choose the incorrect character set, even if I am inputting the correct word. Is this a bug or am I missing something?

I already figured that part out. The bigger question is how do I know if they want me to answer the question in Kana or Romaji? I keep getting dinged because half the time the review wants me to enter it one way, and half the time the other, but it always just asks for the “Japanese” without specifying which character set I should use. Is there something I’m missing?
I think only the first one or two lessons request romaji, after that it’s all hiragana. But there should be new official courses out within a week that either only use kanji/hiragana/katakana or only romaji.
I’m on Lesson 7 of Japanese 1 (“Test Run your Hiragana!”) and yesterday it asked for “thank you” and “what’s up” in romaji and “good night” and “good bye” in hiragana. That’s why I’m frustrated because it’s inconsistent and when I choose the wrong one, I get dinged and have to “review” the word again even though I know it.
It’s always difficult to make a course that suits every learner’s level. You could add the romaji as alternative answers and let the learners make the switch to respond in kanji/kana once they’re ready.
Really small thing (and it probably doesn’t matter with the new courses coming in) but in Japanese 2, Level 24, the literal translation for “He’s allergic to nuts” is missing the possessive の. I find the literal translations really helpful for piecing together the grammar, so I thought it was worth mentioning
