It is such a shame that memrise got rid of course forums. I am very disappointed they would do this. This “community” section loads very slowly and makes my browser freeze and copy-pasting messy URLs is cumbersome.

HI Rabbit who,

I have just joined the forum in its new format so I can’t say (though it was an annoyance to have to re-sign up just to take part in the forums at all) but I just thought I’d use the chance to ask you to put in an audio for the chucho (Mutt, mongrel) in this course. I can’t remember what level but I think it’s one of 77-79. There is no audio for it. Sometimes the audio is slow to come up and you think there is none which is also annoying but there is none at all for chucho.

Also for the verb to flatter, you have two words: adular and halagar. The way you have of differentiating the two (one is just the letter v for verb, while for the other you have verb as a whole word) is not very clear and does not mean much as they can still be mixed up. It took me a few gos to even notice it.

I found two mistakes

lo bien echo, bien parece

It’s hecho, not echo

la muerte ni biscarla ni temerla

It’s buscarla, not biscarla

Moderateambition, there is already audio for that, I don’t know why you can’t hear it. I have added a second file so hopefully you will be able to hear one of the two.

I added the meaning of adulate to adular. They are proper cognates. Thanks :slight_smile:

Giovanni_Vincellib1, I cannot find either of those phrases in my course. I found them both here: http://www.memrise.com/course/214315/espressioni-idiomatiche-e-proverbi/2/ (not my course)

There was definitely none for this one as usually I wait a few moments for an audio to come up (as I said some come up after a few moments) but none did. Either way, thanks for fixing it.

Unfornunally there is not always easy to perceive what is saying in the audio.

I miss the guy in Spanish A2 Beyond beginner.

Hi again,
I would like to point out another thing. You have ‘to submit’ in once as someterse and again as someter but there is no distinction between the two. Could you take a look and change it to add a distinction?

I find that sometimes. Some of them are so quiet you can barely hear them (which is funny when you hear the quiet voice for la sacudida - the jolt, which you cannot say about that voice). Also, el decoro sounds like el decor.

Can I point out that the audio for ‘decoro’ - decor sounds more like ‘decor’ than ‘decoro’ The final o is not pronounced. It might confuse people.

Mona, It took me hours and hours to download all those audio files from forvo one by one and upload them one by one. I asked on the old course forum if anyone wanted to help and no one did.

This is for constructive criticism. The two people who recorded some of the audio for this course, the thousands of people who recorded their voice for Forvo, and I didn’t get paid. Of course if it was always possible to have loud clear audio then we would have. Can you get me some? If not, I don’t much feel like listening to your complaints. :stuck_out_tongue:

When it comes to decoro there is nothing I can do. I would add another file but there aren’t any other audio files available for it I’m afraid. On the bright side I can hear the O fine, personally.

Hi there, thanks i noticed puntiagudo was fixed.

As for decoro, that’s fine. I was just pointing it out.

Here’s another one: el artilugio /gadget is a noun, but it is noted as a reflexive verb.

That’s great, Mona! :slight_smile: Do you know any native speakers with good microphones who would be willing to help? I can’t think of any other way to get the words, the volunteers on Forvo have microphones of varying quality levels

Hi @RabbitWho, If you’re willing to include computer generated clips, you could right-click on the speaker icon and download audio from SpanishDict.

For example, looking up “the word” would show “la palabra” - and you could download the mp3 clip to your computer, then upload the clip to your Memrise course from the editing screen.

You could also generate audio clips using http://www.fromtexttospeech.com/ which is useful for phrases.

@ian_mn I don’t know if @RabbitWho cares about such things, but one problem I can see with using the audio files from spanishdict is that they all (that I have tested) feature only heavily accented Latin American Spanish speakers, not Castillian speakers, and RabbitWho’s course is in the Castillian category.
