Bulk add words all messed up?

I’m trying to make a simple course for my kid, and everything is just not working. So frustrating. :frowning:

I like Memrise and it seems my kid could use it too. The problem is that I couldn’t find any suitable courses, so I decided to start a vocabulary course tailored just for him. That’s when the problems started.

  1. Changes I made on the course don’t seem to apply.
  2. Bulk add words changes the order of english-spanish (randomly?) . I paste a list of words and some english are on the left and others on the right. I’ve also read something about words disappearing but I didn’t even got there yet…

I spent more time correcting things than anything else.

Any tips? I don’t mind using workarounds and a little extra effort, but the first experience was so poor that I need to ask somebody if this is the way it’s going to be. Do I have to add every word/definition by hand and try not to make any mistakes at all for it to work?

How do people create courses? I simply can’t imagine how you do a big course.

BTW I’m 44 and studied software engineering in the day, so definitely not a newbie. :stuck_out_tongue:

Someone had a similar problem here:

They had a reply about a fix but no one has commented on whether it worked or not, might be worth a try. I think when I did it I used a text program rather than a database. So that there was no hidden coding in the copy and paste process. I did it so long ago I can’t really remember, but I seem to remember having to adjust something (using a tab between columns or something).

There are people who do it all the time, so hopefully you get a response that is helpful, or maybe you can try messaging someone directly that has several courses and is active in the forum.

I’m using bulk-add at the moment (15-30 words per level) and it’s working fine - apart from the odd missing attribute but that’s another story …

Are you making a list (one level) or a course (multiple levels?).

Are you using a wiki?

Do you have attribute columns?

A couple of screenshots of your editing page/database would be useful.

    [/quote] Edits should show on the website immediately. Changes won’t necessarily appear in the app if you are using that.
