Auto-learn aka Auto_learn not available

I am creating a new course and I was checking the auto learn option and it was not available. I checked my other courses and it was not available either. The option has been removed or something??

Noooo! I can’t see it either.

jesus maria…

why do they keep taking features away???

Any chance they are just removing it to provide a new, better (e.g. available for all courses) option soon?

One can at least hope, right?

unfortunately, hopes to bring back features have always been in vain on memrise… wonder why auto-learn and auto-ignore are considered such trifles, by the team…

would somebody from the team confirm that the feature was taken out? @lien?, @Joshua

Hi @Hydroptere,
Auto-Learn is not available at the moment but it will be back on Monday, once our developers have completed the big database task they’re working on at the moment.
Apologies for the nuisance!

@lien, not much left of this monday … :pensive:

I really need the auto-learn feature for my learning. Please bring it back soon. Thank you.

Could someone update us, please? However long the fix will now take it would be immensely helpful if you could touch base with us. Prompt customer service is greatly appreciated, and is especially a consideration of subscribers whose subscriptions are coming up for renewal. I primarily use my subscription for logging and reviewing vocab I already know, so the normal, lengthy learn function is of little use. Start-of-term formal exams are approaching and the lack of this feature represents both a lack of monetary value for your monthly direct debit customers and is deeply distressing at this crucial time.

Many thanks indeed for your assistance in advance.

Firstly I think this thread should be moved to this area:

As it’s not a general learning feature but one only course creators (and contributors) can use. Do you @Kohrak, @Hydroptere & @widle agree?

Secondly as a creator, I have discovered you can cheat and “auto_learn”.

Start a leaning session and just add in “auto_” in front of the “learn” (in the URL in the address bar) and press enter.

It’s true that it is only available to course creators and contributors. But I don’t see why it should be - it would be useful for all learners alike.

Until then, you’re probably right about the location, though.

@DW7, thank you very much!

No, @DW7, I donT think that would be usefull: I don’t have the impression the team cares about course creators other then themselves. Did you ever get a positive answer, regarding the deleted fora, etc?

Yes I agree @widle, it should be available for all users, as sometimes it isn’t necessary to go through the whole ‘planting’ experience, just the reviewing of the more difficult ‘words’ we want to fully learn.

As @lydia.ellis.93 points out.

Hi all,
I’m very sorry the auto-learn button wasn’t reintroduced on Monday as promised. Our developer informed me about the delay earlier today. I’m waiting to hear back from him about the new ETA.
For the time being, you can still auto-learn by tweaking the link.
Many apologies for the inconvenience.
Speak soon,
Lien

Our developer replied as I was typing the message above. I was told it will be back tomorrow morning.

So glad that there’s a way around it! I can’t work out where you type it though and can’t see it on the list of commands, can you include a screen shot or describe what to click to be able to type learn? Thanks so much!

Ah I’ve just seen that the subsequent message explained later that you alter the hyperlink text, thanks for the tip for future.
