Audio recording not working

For weeks now I have not been able to complete the Vietnamese language course I am making because I cannot record audio. I doesn’t matter what browser I use. When I hit record, the pop up window says: “You need Flash version 10.0.0 or greater https://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/”. Needless to say, I have already installed Flash and I still cannot record. Can someone please tell me how to solve this? I need a solution ASAP.

You need to enable your flash - some browsers disable auto-running of flash by default (even if it is installed). In Chrome for example you need to

  1. click the ‘secure’ item before the web address, and then
  2. scroll to ‘Flash’
  3. select ‘Enable’

However, I noticed that, unfortunately, it still often doesn’t work - a different message appears. That might have to do that the recording flash-files are not hosted on the Memrise server. However, I have never been able to figure the exact steps/requirements to get it working. See also this thread: Recording audio on chrome not working

Jonh_Baite,

Thanks. I’ve followed those steps and it still isn’t working. I referenced the thread you shared and I’m having the EXACT same problem. I’ve gotten the recording to work on IE 11 but that is not ideal as that browser is crap and doesn’t properly display Vietnamese fonts. When can we expect this bug to be fixed for Chrome?

Thanks for the feedback.

Since you have exactly the same problem, let’s continue to discuss in other thread, so we don’t need to switch back and forth between the two threads.

PS: I don’t know how to fix Chrome. That is what I hope to hear from support.
