I think it works quite well to say “this day”. I liked “hoy” as well - that is clear to me. Or you could have fun and play with words to make a phrase that is long, such as “the day that has not yet passed”, or “'ere night doth fall”…How shall we count the ways to make clear “this day that is here and now?”

The land where I am this day is near the wide part of the globe where the sun is strong and the days are warm. It is a land with lots of fruit and fresh foods, there are large hills that throw hot rocks and ash, the boys and girls are quite short, and they speak four-times-six kinds of speech. There is no snow here! (I feel sad for @Atikker and his !)
Two nights in the past, we got our first rain in lots of months. Birds that did not sing in the first months of the year, now sing a LOT! Their song is quite nice, and I like it a lot. I save their songs on my phone, but there are lots of cars, so the sound is not so good…
Soon I will go back to the north, where I will miss the birds, fruits, big hills, nice boys & girls, good food, and sun.

In this place in the east it is spring now. It still rains a lot, but it is not cold any more. It is a time to be out, not in. I like to walk here. I walk all the time. Day or night. Long or short. I do not care. To walk is good for your health.
In my place in the west, few folks walk. They drive all the time. They weigh more there ‘cuz of their cars. I would walk a lot there though so I did not weigh much. I was odd there for my walks, and I guess I am odd here too, but that is fine with me.
I wish folks would walk more. But for the most part it seems they just want to get to a place as fast as they can. How sad. So you get there fast, then what ? Speed is not the end all.
Why not take the chance ~ like right now, to just turn off the things that take your time from you, and go out the door and walk. You can go any place, just do not bring your phone. Take the time to soak in the world near you. There is much to see, hear, smell and touch. Who knows, you might smile too – (how cool is that !)
Bring a child; bring a friend; or go as one. Just make the time and go !

In my place in the East it is hot now. It will be this way for five or six months. Ugh. 
The days are hot and the nights are hot. But at night my friends, the bats, come out. Most folks do not like bats, but I like them. They eat bugs in the air that bite you. I do not like to be bit, so if bats can help get rid of this chance, then I am all for them !
Is there a thing you do not like ? It could be that you do not like it ‘cuz you do not know what it is, or what it does (kind of like bats). It just may be that the more you know about a thing, the less you are to not like it. That is how a small boy or girl tends to see things. I think they have a nice view on life !
