thanks, but all these are (since long) known. Read along the thread, you’ll find really interesting resources
hey, nice to see you, Kai thanks for the heartfelt advice!
btw, for those who speak also French, the language section of https://chine.in is rather nicely made
@Kaimi Thanks a lot for the advice with Anki and Pleco! Both I’ve used but still haven’t fully taken the plunge on. If you don’t mind I have a couple lazy questions for you.
How are either app in terms of quizzing multi direction in Chinese? For instance, I currently use the “blue” and “red” courses for hsk 5 to quiz in pinyin, Chinese and English. Also, if one of these reverse quizzing options exists, do different quiz directions tie into the same word entry? In other words, if the Chinese is marked incorrect, does that affect the algorithm for the other quiz formats? (Kind of curious if any SRS has figured out how to subtly affect the algorithm in this kind of scenario, as in the 3 quizzing directions are connected, but not fully connected)
Second, is there a way to create “mems” in Pleco or Anki? Would that just amount to a large “note” on the answer side of flashcards? I’d say I only end up relying on mems for some of my vocabulary, but sometimes just the act of typing out a long story to help remembering really helps. I’ve bookmarked forums i’ll have to search to find with people discussing how to incorporate memrise’s mem feature into Anki but can’t remember where I saved it and I think it involved some minor coding.
Cheers!
My teacher just told me about 喜马拉雅FM (Ximalaya FM)… there’s an app for android/iOS and a website http://www.ximalaya.com/explore/
It has masses of music, radio stations, audio books (including for kids) etc, and a few HSK-related recordings I couldn’t find anywhere else, such as audio for the HSK 3 workbook.
The app is a bit nicer than the website, but then again the user interface is all in 汉字… an opportunity for a bit of authentic learning there for those of us still at lower levels!
HelloTalk is very interesting. It’s basically like WeChat for language learners.
I don’t know if this resource has been added already, but the website Coursera has several great Chinese lessons for HSK you can take totally for free. They are offered by Peking University and are very effective.
Another great resource is Domino Chinese
Thank you for this post, this is very helpful! I’d like to add a couple of useful resources for learning Chinese.
Hack Chinese. It’s a handy SRS flashcard tool for building and organizing your Chinese vocabulary with pre-made vocab lists for popular textbooks and an option to connect your tutor to your account.
Another great resource is Chinese Comic Shop, it helps you Learn Chinese by reading comics.
