Why is the Community Forum in "Read Only Mode"?

Today, for most of the day, this Community Forum has been in “read only mode” on my iPad. It isn’t that way on my laptop. Did I do something wrong on my iPad ?

Clicking on the Log In button on my iPad just brings up a message: “Login is disabled while the site is in read only mode”.

Messages continue to appear on my iPad, and I can read them, I just can’t respond to anything. I can only read/write on my laptop. Am I the only one ?

Hi again,

I am sending this reply from my iPad.

I have the forum homepage saved as a favourite on mine and was able to log in without seeing that “Login is disabled…” message that you got.

I took a look in my Safari settings to see if I could spot anything there to suggest but couldn’t see any likely candidates, I’m afraid.

Sorry, I’m not being very helpful.

@alanh - thanks for the response. I am also typing this from my iPad which suddenly is now working again for Forum posts. Don’t know what occurred, but like you, I also saved the Forum to a favorite and have always linked into it from there. Always worke like a charm until today. Oh well, one less mystery now… Thanks again.

I tried browsing the forum from my laptop just before this “read-only” appeared, and it seemed that there was a problem on Discourse end since I ended up on a beautiful page telling me that Discourse couldn’t access the forum content and that a message was just sent to them to tell them there was a problem. It seems like the server was down for a few minutes. After that, when I tried reloading the page (still from my laptop), there was the same “read-only” message as the one you’re mentioning.

It was probably just that the server hosting this forum was down and that there was a “read-only” copy on another server to avoid leaving users with a “oops, the server crashed!” page.
