"Whoops could not load session sorry" message for newly created course

Hi,

I just started creating a course for my students. The creation page is fine, but anytime I try to “learn lesson” or “preview” I get the “whoops could not load session sorry” page. I have tried logging in from a different account, using a different version of windows (windows 10 and windows 8), using both internet explorer and google chrome- nothing. I logged out and tried a few days later just to see if it was a bug that would fix itself, but still nothing.

I also tried on two different lessons I created within the course, with the same error message. I tried duplicating and deleting lessons and trying again, but no matter what, I cannot “learn” or “preview” after the words and images have been entered.

Help please! the page is https://www.memrise.com/course/1763627/water-drop-ell-course/

Any advice?

Hi @Jenni73 ,

I get the same message when I try to learn items in your course. This problem has cropped up before. Here is a link to another forum thread which seems to discuss a similar issue: Error message "Whoops. Could not load the session. Sorry."

If you would like to make me a ‘contributor’ to your course (just short term) so that I can see the settings etc I’m happy to take a quick look around to see if I can spot anything. If I can’t, it may help to tag one of the forum Admins so that they can take a look for you.

Hi again @Jenni73,

I have just tried the workaround suggested by Joshua from Memrise at post No 22 in that other thread I linked to. By adding “garden/review_level/” at the end of your course’s url, I was able to learn items.

Here is a screenshot of what I’m seeing for the first item in Level 1:

It’s not the ideal solution but it’s a start.

Edit: I’m also now seeing the “khmer” column in Level 1 (but not in Level 2) which wasn’t visible before, so maybe you’ve been doing some more work on this and now have the way forward.

Come back if you need to.

Good luck!

Hello everyone,
I only started to build a course tonight and I get the same error message when I want to try to learn things so It’s not going too well for a first start.
I did try the solution suggested by Joshua but did not change anything.
sorry I’m very new to all this and english is not my first language.

it’s a wonderfull tool, I don’t want to give up so early in my trial.

thank’s a lot for your help

all the best
nico

Hello again,
I have tried to start from zero another course but the same error message comes up.

I’m using photos of birds, it’s rather basic, the new one I tried is only two words and two pictures.

could this be from my computer? I’ve tried on two machines, both windows 7, and I’ve tried firefox and IE, same results

thank’s for your help

nico

Hi @NICOLAS_GASCO23,

Hmm. It could be something as simple as how many levels and columns your course has got or how you have set the testing directions.

You could try following the steps in this guide I made some time ago and see if it helps. If it doesn’t, post a link to your course here and I’ll try to take a look to see if I can spot the issue.

Good luck!

thank’s a lot for all this Alanh ! much appreciated
