No problem

Hello! My name is Ashely and I am from the United States. My Memrise ID is the same as on the forum, XiaoCottonCloudy. I don’t know my rank, but I am level 12.

Currently I am learning Mandarin Chinese. I use Memrise, Domino Chinese, textbooks, and I have a private tutor on Verbling. I hope one day to be a Chinese translator and to have lots of Chinese friends! In the past, I studied Finnish, but I have since forgotten most of it :frowning: so I hope to study it again and relearn what I have lost. In addition, I also hope to learn Spanish, Italian and Hindi in the future. But for now, my main focus is Mandarin.

I would love to find some Chinese friends to practice with. Please don’t be afraid to send me a message!

Welcome, Ashley : )

Being a translator for Chinese sounds very difficult! I never could get my head around the syllabary languages myself, but I wish you much luck. You must be very brave with difficult languages, though, to study Mandarin and have worked on Finnish in the past (all Finnish verbs sound the same to me, unfortunately). I wouldn’t worry too much about having forgotten what you learnt, it’s probably all still there; I have found in the past I thought I forgot everything I had learned about a language, only to begin learning again and have a real easy time of it, so fingers crossed you’ll find the same.

Hi
I’m shwe my ID is shweNashima

I use memrise to learn Japanese but i find Japanese letters really hard. Hope to make new friends here.

Thank you for your encouragement! I hope I have the same experience. I truly love the Finnish language and this time around I know I need to make more of an effort to use it or lose it…in other words find lots of Finnish friends! If you don’t mind me asking what language did you have this experience with?

I heard once from a wise man one time before “You don’t choose your interests, your interests choose you.” Which for me seems to be difficult languages. They always seem to be the ones I fall in love with haha! I actually put the first step into making my dream come true the other day, I enrolled in my local college! Coming soon: “Ashely’s Translation services??” I hope so!

Try to get some Finnish email friends.
