Hi fellow forum users, I am Alfie (Memrise ID is AlfieFortd0). I study Spanish, Romanian and Dutch on Memrise. My long term language goals are to reach mastery within Spanish and Dutch, a conversational level in Romanian and the other language I am studying which is Swahili. I started studying Japanese with Memrise about two and a half years ago, and am hoping to one day get good enough to start taking on some translation work. I also have an interest in eventually dabbling in Chinese and French, but for now I want to ‘keep my eyes on the prize’ with Japanese.
I’m a big video game geek, and I grew up with a lot of Japanese video games. I was always frustrated though by the language barrier preventing so many (myself included) from enjoying anything that never got localized overseas.
With Memrise’s help, I’ve finally been able to get my foot in the door of the world of Japanese media, which I had before always been an outsider to. It’d be a dream job for me to one day be able to help others in crossing that same language barrier.
