When to use sehen vs anschauen

There was recently a slide where it said “Ich möchte ein Theaterstück sehen.” meaning I want to see a play. Why isn’t it “Ich möchte ein Theaterstück anschauen.” Also while I’m here, I’ve been learning from the A1 German course and should be finishing it up in the near future. Seeing as they got rid of the A1 and A2 courses, when I’m finished with A1 should I switch to A2 or go with the new courses? If I should do the new courses which one should I start on?

You can find in this German section of the Forum the links to the old German A1/A2 courses, if you look for continuity.

Concerning the mistake, which course do you refer to? The A1 by Memrise?

Ya, I’m using the A1 course. I just realized I put aufsuchen instead of anschauen. It’s edited now. As for the continuity of courses I know that they still have the A2 course and have the link bookmarked but I was wondering if it would be more beneficial to use the new courses or not after completely my A1 course.

I went from using the A2 to starting over the whole of the new set on German courses, it is the opportunity for me to review all the genders and cover all the basics.
With the ignore button, for the most easy ones, I knock off 1 level a day. I reached now the course number 3, level 19, I have not found the overlap yet.
