What is great about pro

I’m not convinced about the advantages of going “Pro” and I was wondering if someone could help me understand them to see if I’m maybe miss-understanding them.

I’m learning simplified Chinese and I’ve been using the free version for a long time now, learned almost 2000 words but the pro features don’t really convince me as it seems more like some nice marketing terms rather than stuff that really helps you advance faster and learn better…

  1. “Personalised learning rhythm” So I’m getting a graph that tells me when I usually learn?

  2. “Pro scientists for PRO learners” Great, you’ve teamed up with people from fancy schools, how thorough was the research or work you did with them, how will going pro give me the advantage of the work you’ve done with them? I’m assuming even though it’s listed as a pro benefit, that this great research has already been applied to the free version as well?

Almost identical thread here. My reason for going pro is to keep this site alive. Though I DO like the difficult words feature.

Ditto. I wanted to support memrise - and still do, despite the changes - and I also like the “Difficult Words” feature because it shows me which words in the courses I work on have confusing or identical definitions. This feature helps me to improve the courses.

I like the audio review, but feel like it could be a bit better.
Do feel like there is one more thing lacking with Pro. They should implement a ‘‘picture’’ review, where you only see a picture of something and select the word that corresponds best with the picture.

I bought it first to support Memrise but it also has some good features like off-line mode in the app, the difficult words feature and “meet the locals” feature in the official courses.

That is already available in some courses, it is something the course creator can use.

An example: https://www.memrise.com/course/351852/japanese-with-pictures-audio/

that’s great, but I mean something only uses pictures if the course creator added them in his or her course instead of the definitions. Currently you only see the picture once when you learn the word, but never again unless you get it wrong.

In the example there are no definitions other than the pictures so they will always be shown in reviews.
