We are customising uploaded mems by having small sized image files

This was mentioned in the other post which is now closed: “We are customising uploaded mems, so we can improve their experience by having small sized image files, which will provide a faster loading time.”

I am worried that the resizing of images would have a negative effect on any text that those images contain. Maybe to the point of becoming unreadable. I realise memrise has its own text function - I never use this because I have a colour coding system for learning Chinese and Japanese. That system is as follows

All words in purple are radicals.
All parts are blue if components.
All parts are green if they deal with punctuation.
All words are in red when they refer to the exact meaning.

Here is a mem, just to be clear:

If you resize the images could you please let me know the exact dimensions so I could create mem’s with those dimensions before uploading it to essentially circumvent the resizing process and avoid any negative effect on the text?

The loss in picture quality is not of any real importance to me but the loss in colour and quality in the text is real.

Couldn’t you guy’s put a size and or dimension limit on the images uploaded father then filtering them in this way?

beautifull mems

Thank you. I try my best not just for myself but for all those who learn Chinese. I have my colouring system which I feel is extremely beneficial but the new filter is messing with the shades and fonts.

My suggestion to memrise is that they stop filtering the images to save space but rather reduce the acceptable upload size to, idk, 200kbyts? This would force me to use smaller images and not interfere with the font or colour.
