Is there a way I can combine two of my courses ?
Sorry… There is no way to merge different courses… You can leave a note in course description, but only web users will see it
Hi @Atikker,
I like the courses of memrise very much and there are so much words to learn but I also like streaks, the courses from memrise are devided in very much courses, is there a way to get all the words from the courses from memrise into one course? It doesn’t have to be an option in memrise itself, it can also be something like making a copy of all words in a level pasting it in a spreadsheet or a document and copying it again and pasting it into bulk. I tried this but there has to be a tab or komma between the words and when I copy the words they are pasted in one straight line down. So if I wan’t to bulk add I have to manually set all the words in the correct order. This is a bit too much work for me .
Do you have any ideas to bulk add hundreds of words at the time?
If you’re using Firefox or Chrome, you can install GreaseMonkey or Tamper Monkey, and then use the script Memrise Utilities. Go to the course page, and to the right of the # of Levels and link to Difficult Words, you’ll see “Word List.” Click that, and the script will create a tab-separated list of all the entries in the course. Copy the text, and then paste into Excel or your preferred spreadsheet software. Unfortunately, It will only give you the English clue, foreign answer, and level number. It does not copy over attributes or audio.
There is also an extension to Anki, Memrise-to-Anki, which lets you import the data from a Memrise course into an Anki deck. There’s a bit of a learning curve, since you have to figure out how to set up the Anki card correctly in order to get the data you want, but you get to choose what fields to download (including audio). I would test it on a small course (under 200 words) before downloading a larger course.
From Anki, I believe you can export into a CSV file, edit as you like, and then re-upload into Memrise. Of course, you’ll have to upload each audio file separately, but I believe you can get the attributes and other fields to work with a bulk upload.
Good luck!
Thank you for your response @Kaspian, I will try your suggestions and see which one works the best for me .
I use https://www.import.io/ to extract everything and then make my own courses.
I like it since I can work in Excel and edit everything to fit my needs.
Afterwards it is easy to just create a new course with everything.
I do it all the time
that (plus memrise becoming a children app) is why i keep my best courses private/unlisted… too many not declared/permitted clones
See from the other side, be happy that people like your courses so much they are cloning it for themselves . That means you are doing a great job on memrise
.
How does that help you or anyone for that matter?
We wouldn’t want to promote mediocrity here would we?
like your courses, you mean? yrah, I think you should keep them as “incomplete” till you learn better German
The idea here is to learn, not to feed the ego.
If I use a course I need to perfect it and make it fit my needs.
It is normal to copy the material and work on it. I need to print and study offline. I need to fix the errors. I need to adjust incorrect definitions… using the material is part of the study.
If no one shared the courses no one would be around here.
