I just spent half an hour trying to figure out how to get the same encouraging beeps and bloops from the Memrise mobile app to work on the web. But other forum posts dating to 2016 seem to show that the sound effects are not part of the web version.
Is this true? If so, I find it hard to believe. The sounds are brain candy that make it like a game while encouraging me to use the app. And people have been complaining about this for half a decade?
From sync issues to this, I get the feeling that Memrise may be one of those fading startups that can no longer afford to keep its basic functions operating reliably. (Think Evernote). I think I pay around $90 per year for this. Is it time to switch apps?
BTW, I can play audio files uploaded to Memrise. There’s just no sound when I complete a flashcard.
