The thing I have to do for this is to stop the course from asking students the other direction, so there is no question like: "Maskulin -> ? "
,because there multiple answers would be possible and it would be impossible to figure out the right one.
I have searched already with search engines and in the faq, but wasn’t able to find a solution.
I was actually expecting to find one, because it should be a quite common usage?
Sorry if I have overlooked something!
Is there a possible workaround?
I think this course is very difficult. For me it’s too abstract. Especially Level 2. And I don’t think this is common.
There are many exceptions in German. For examlpe:
-chen der Kuchen, der Rachen, der Drachen [kite]
-ment der Moment [time]
der Zement
-anz der Kranz, der Tanz, der Glanz
-or das Tor, das Moor, das Labor
Level 3
alcoholic drinks
maskulin
Alkohol? Deutschland?
das Bier
May I ask you something?
How old are your students?
I know that there are exceptions, but since there are more or less no rules regarding the gender in german, this is a little help to figure out some of them (the majority of those suffixes).
Das Bier for example is the only exception I know in terms of alcoholic drinks, I would have added some of those in the description and clarified that there are exceptions and this is just a help.
Edit1: Ah and my students are more or less from the whole range, starting from 13 till 60 or something like that.
Hmm since every student would have to install this, it’s not a perfect solution for me. Some of them are not the best with technical things and I can’t always do it for them.
But thank you a lot for the input, I will definitely save this!
I’m talking about you having to remember most of the articles on your own for every word as you learn it. Of course the gender in general has grammatical influence.
That’s very sad, it would be an easy feature to implement I guess. And it would be very useful for making a wider range of courses possible.
Thank you for your answer!
