Urdu courses - how to type Urdu on an English keyboard

I’ve completed the Learning to Read Urdu(Farsi) course and really liked it since all the questions usually had multiple choice answers from which I could select one. However I find that all the other Urdu courses seem to require you to type Urdu in answer to some questions. Since I only have an English keyboard I have to skip that question. Is there some setting which will allow me to choose not to get questions that require me to type the answers?

I’m pretty sure there isn’t a setting to disable those questions, although there are userscripts that will do it for you (if you’re using the website; you can’t use userscripts in the apps).

If you’d like to be able to type Urdu / Farsi on your keyboard, you could probably install the Urdu / Farsi keyboard in Windows (or Mac; whatever you’re using). See here for instructions on how to do this on Windows. This is basically what I use to type Chinese, using my normal English keyboard.

Thanks for responding. I would not know how to use an Urdu keyboard even if I installed it. My objective is to be able to read Urdu and so if I could just have the courses not ask me to type the language it would be good. This may be something the course creators have to keep in mind.

However I did install the userscript for Chrome and the No typing userscript does the job for me! Thanks a lot!

No problem

If you’re using the website, you can use a userscript to force the course to not have any typing. See here for the userscript, and let me know if you have any problems getting it to work.
