Unterhose in German 2

Hello, what is the translation of the German word “Unterhose”? In the course German 2 it is translated as pants but as I know pants means trousers and Unterhose means underwear. Thank you!

depends on the variety of English you’re using: pants: British, underwear: North-American

I think it would be good if Memrise added “underpants” to the translation. When given the cue “pants”, I’ve gotten the question wrong too many times by writing “Hose”. ; )

again: it depends if you take German for UK English speakers, or for North-Am…

I’m taking Memrise’s German for English speakers. (I just tried to edit my first post because I had written "the " twice. But I couldn’t edit it. I was simply asked if I wanted to “abandon” my post. What’s up with that?) (Now, the edit is working correctly??? )

There are two sets of Memrise German courses: one set for English (US) speakers and one set for English speakers. On your profile I can see German 2 and German 3 twice. So apparently you’re taking both courses for each. That would certainly be confusing. For German 1 you’re only taking the English speakers course.

You’re taking the German 2 course for English speakers that uses UK English. If you want pants in the meaning of trousers you need to change to the course for English (US) speakers.
