Unable to edit a topic I created?

I have several topics (forums) that I have created but now I cannot edit them. I see the ‘edit pencil’ for topic replies that I have made and can still edit, but for the topic header there is no ‘edit pencil’ even though I created the topic.

For example on this page, at the bottom I would expect an ‘edit’ pencil, but there isn’t one:

Does this mean I don’t actually own the ‘topic’ that I created? Or am I just missing something?

I think this is a setting in the discourse forum software. The limit for editing might be 2 months, I don’t know. @joshua for example might be persuaded to lengthen that.

If he can’t, you could ask a leader to make the post a wiki for you, then you (and anyone else, but no-one else will edit random posts in practice) will be able to edit the post indefinitely.

Leaders (and regulars maybe too) can edit posts indefinitely, so another approach would be to ask staff to make you a leader.

neal, I was wondering the same thing. I’ve got an old post heading that I need to edit and have yet to find a way to do it.

@Rin_Asami - I posted a message in the ‘bugs/problems’ area (for course creators I think) and an admin was kind enough to pick it up and fix it for me. There is a time limit, apparently, after which you can no longer edit the titles. An odd thing IMHO.

I’m planning to get another forum title changed one more time when we settle on a ‘final’ name for it.

Thanks neal. I just posted a topic in there. I’ll cross my fingers. I sent an email to memrise help weeks ago but never heard back. I guess they aren’t really answering emails anymore. :frowning:

the quickest way to get help is to search the forum , then ask … and @Rin_Asami I offered you my help first time, but you did not take it

Quicker still to read what’s already been posted.

I never got a notification that you had replied. Thank you though. I did end up getting it fixed.
