Trouble with typing in Thai

I recently started the Thai Alphabet Crash Course, and attempted the Short Vowels level. With some vowels, no matter how you write them, they will be considered incorrect.

Consonants are represented by a dash, with the vowel symbol/s placed wherever they need be around it. In particular I have difficulty with vowels such as -ุ or -ิ where, no matter if I type the dash then symbol or the symbol then dash, Memrise will consider my answer incorrect. Vowels such as -ั- , --ะ or เ-ะ will be fine, so maybe it is because of the symbols being above/below the dash rather than to the sides? (Though this seems to be fine for -ั- , --ะ, so idk.)

Does anyone else have this issue, or know how to go about resolving it?

Thanks
