Hm, In my opinion it looks slightly like Chinese or Japanese. I’m leaning towards Japanese here. I am probably wrong though… Just my opnion. 
Do you have a better picture? It’s not Chinese or Japanese. Sanskrit? Hebrew?
As someone who’s studying Japanese, it doesn’t look like Japanese or Chinese at all. It’s probably not Hebrew either (as it tends to be a bit more “boxy”), Looking at the last two characters and seeing those strange dots, it probably is an Abugida.

Not much help maybe, but this is written in one of the Brahmic scripts, they are used mostly for the languages of India (Punjabi, Bengali, Hindi, Marathi…).

I forgot to add a detail.
I did get it in Thailand, but was already told by a friend from Thailand that it is not Thai.

No, the Burmese alphabet looks different according to my friend from Myanmar
Some letters are vaguely Tibetan but some not. It’s also seldom Tibetan is written top down, usually to show mantras or mantra stacks.
Mongolian is also written top-down but they look tibetan to me as well. Possibly also a not-so-much-known language of India like tamil, marathi, bengali, gujarati, punjabi etc.
My guess this is OM MA NI PAD ME HUM written in some northern Indian language.
