Some of the mistranslations that I have seen have been astounding in the fact that they have conveyed they complete opposite of the original intent. I am always sceptical now and tend to run something that I think is ambiguous through a number of translators both Cantonese and Mandarin because there can be a different meaning there too. But that mess with an unthinking bureaucrat - I can just see it now
