Tips for Learning Finnish?

I know to use kid stuff, but it is hard to come by things with Finnish dub and English sub. I’ve bought several children’s books in Finnish and English, and I am looking at youtube videos, but those are also hard to find… Same with cartoons in Finnish.

I need help with finding a lot of resources and researches that actually help with pronunciation, grammar, etc… in the very beginner level, we are on day 3. (My boyfriend and I are learning it together and he learns via doing things, whereas I learn by repetition and hearing)

Thanks in advance and I’m sorry that this is somewhat similar to a previous topic. :slight_smile:

I would look there first and perhaps ask there. My only two cents would be to actually visit Finland with an open mind, and shop for media there such as books and films. Because you are not going to find them here or online.

News in simple Finnish (there’s audio, video or you can just read them like I do): http://yle.fi/uutiset/osasto/selkouutiset/

Otherwise I don’t know about video stuff, I prefer reading. A good reading-based resource is this: https://www11.edu.fi/ymmarra/index.php (in each chapter there’s stuff to read, one grammar topic explained and a test on reading comprehension).

@Akumie,

There are some suggestions in this earlier topic: What resources are you using to learn Finnish?. Sorry, if you have already checked it out.

There are some others to be found here: https://finland.fi/tag/language/.

Good luck!

You can find children’s books in Finnish here.

I am going to blow my own horn here and give links to my own course! :slight_smile:
