Timer not counting down

I have noticed over the past few days that the timer is not working at all. I can answer the questions as quick or as slow as I like. Anyone else with this problem?

Same here!

This is categorized as an iOS bug. There was never a timer on the iOS app. There is a timer however on the website (and perhaps on the Android app, but I never use that).

Are you referring to speed review?

Timer looks fine to me.

Oh, OK. I very rarely use my iOS app and just took a look on reading the OP. Sure enough, there was no sign of a timer.

I just checked and i still have a timer on the website using Chrome (but I turned it off on Firefox with the Greasemonkey script, so I don’t know if it is still there or not, but I assume it is).

I tried Speed Review on the website for the first time. I have no idea what it is supposed to do, but it counted down 3, 2, 1 then did some dreadful colorful looking things on the screen. I did not see a timer while it was coloring my screen. I logged out of it. I don’t see the purpose of this process, so I won’t use it again.

Hi @pdao!

Yes, the website (using Chrome) is my method of choice and the timer has been working fine there.

I just tried Speed Review on the iOS app and was soon reminded of why I had stopped using it! Far too stress inducing!

Learning is supposed to be fun, not stressful. In such a fast-paced world, I fail to see why learning (reviewing) needs to be fast as well ? Oh well, different generations with different approaches to learning from what I grew up with. I hope whatever the nature of this issue is, it can be resolved. Happy (unstressful) learning to all.

I am using the web version though (Mac).

I am not using Speed Review. I am using the Web version on my Mac and currently using Chrome.

@pdao, speedreview is useful for getting points really fast. And you could use it olso to see how far you can get with a timer. Unfortunetly you can only do a session that will end at 100, I would like to see the number being increased so I could do more speedreview . And in the app for iOS you need to pay to be able to do speedreview, but on android it is free, could someone please explain this to me? It is the main reason why I don’t use the iOS app

You created this thread in the iOS bug category. Can I move this over to Web bugs category?

Also, before moving categories, can you be a little bit more descriptive to the problem your facing?

What timer is not going down?
Are you running any user scripts which removes the timer?

Here’s a screenshot of the timer decreasing in a review session.

really? (I get 25 points a right answer) speed review is very useful if you have thousands of items in need for watering (ok, sorry, reviewing)

Sure - I wasn’t sure where to put it, so no problem moving it, thanks!

When you hit 100/100 you get between 3600 and 3680 points, when you have 0 to review but still have to get enough points for your daily goal it is very useful

@L.u.c.a ~ I’m sorry, but for the life of me, I will never understand users obsession with “points” on Memrise.

Learning, in my day and age, was about furthering one’s mind; opening doors to new concepts and ideals; enriching one’s intellect; and so on. It was never something one generally (or even intentionally) sought to either quantify, or hastily rush through. The pay-off was the knowledge one gained, not points assigned by some software vendor who for someone unknown reason either knowingly or unknowingly wants to somehow place users in some bizarre scenario where the goal sometimes seems to be to garner as many “points” as they can ~ even tempting some to do so in nefarious ways with this product.

I will never understand the concept of points, speed learning (review), etc. I know I am in the minority in my viewpoint, so I will cease preaching and get off my soapbox. I just wish people could focus more on learning for learning’s sake, and not for points sake.
