I was wondering what the clock symbol for a course is for. For example, the list of courses shows “French 1”, “created by Memrise”, “1.32M” (probably meaning 1.32 million people are in it), and “3h”. The exact meaning of the clock symbol and the “3h” that follows is not quite apparent to me. I would assume that it indicates course length. Are there more specific explanations? Thanks!
1.32m / 1.07m means million of people.
“k” means thousand.
the 3h / 4h clock means the to be expected completion time (in hours) learning all available words / phrases / sentences in those offical 1-7 courses.
Once you start a course (Click on the green learn button), you see the maximum words, e.g 150, 370, 680 displayed, e.g 0/150, 10/150 (10 of 150 words learned).
Memrise has a series of seven (offical) courses, the vocabulary is not that big like the other 1000-3000 or even 5000 (user-created) single word courses.
The good thing is, that those courses do not only contain single words, but also challenge you with phrases/sentences.
If you use the Tampermonkey user script from Cooljingle “all typing” (for the web portal / browser addon) those courses will be even more fun as you have to 100% type the correct / long sentence, instead of using multiple-choice.
