I’ve been using Memrise daily since 2013 and I would not have learned Korean to the level I have without it and all the mems that people contributed. Thank you so much for creating a learning platform that harnessed the power of the hive mind with mems to help me learn thousands of vocabulary words.
Now that the mems are gone, I’ve got no reason not to switch to Anki. Even if Anki doesn’t have user contributed mems, I’ve gotten pretty good at creating my own quickly, and Anki allows me to input mems into a field that will display on the back of a card. Having to create my own mems is better than not having them at all, as I can’t memorize vocab without them.
I’m sorry to say goodbye, as Memrise has helped me so much over the years (and I loved seeing my points go up, the Chinese teacher at the school I teach at even had students use Memrise for homework after I introduced it to her, and I was able to compete weekly with my students on Memrise, they learning Chinese and me learning Korean). Anyway, now that I’ve gotten all my courses on Anki with Memrise2Anki, it’s time to say goodbye. Thank you for everything Memrise, sorry to see us part like this.
