Testing out of a section of a course

It would be great if there was a way to test out of a section. I have already learned how to say Hi and How are you.

Hi @bethazavedo6,

if there was a way to test out of a section.

Do you mean trial or ignore?

Courses are often shown in several levels with each level showing a different topic.

If you find a whole level you don’t want to learn, just skip it or ignore it.

You can also “ignore” single words (perhaps this is only on the web version?).

Often I’ll ignore all words in a level and just un-tick those I want to learn.

I hope that has answered your question.

Neither trial or ignore.
I understand you can just ignore a section, but I am a little OCD and like to see it checked off. LOL.
I have found that when I skip the section it won’t add it in to the “review” section.

In Duolingo you can “test out” of the section. Where you have the option to do the final test and if you pass it will mark that you completed the section and add the material into future reviews.

Ciao @bethazavedo6 re:

I . . . like to see it checked off

As you didn’t use the @ and my ‘name’ nor “reply” I didn’t get informed you had replied and have only just seen this.

There are two solution here:

1) You can “Preview” which shows you each question in turn - this is good to look for spelling mistakes and the correct ‘pairing’.

2) (assuming you are the course creator or contributor), you can “auto_learn” and when you refresh the level you will be asked to review each entry.

I think this is what you are looking for.

@DW7

PS Are you making a new course which has not been published yet? - as I can see you are not teaching any.

I don’t believe I have seen the “auto_learn” button. I will look for that option.

and in regards to your next question which does not relate to this thread, I am creating a course for myself and my sister (hopefully it will help others as well), but it has nothing to do with “Testing Out of a Course”.

Thanks

Memrise does not offer the feature you are looking for.
