I would like feedback regarding a course I’m experimenting with using blank comics and audio meant for the missing bubbles. The idea is for the learner to use context clues of the drawing and the visible English dialogue to guess and understand the correct German dialogue.
Like do you feel it helps?
Can you understand what the audio means using the context?
Hi Amanda,
tried it myself (also a C+H admirer …) but I think it is not a mixup but intentional the way the course is set up. You are supposed to translate the empty bubble.
As for feedback: Nice idea, though I have to admit I am not a big fan of the synthetic voices. They are quite good but especially with longer sentences the “melody” of a phrase is a bit off.
And being a native speaker of German (and knowing many C+H by heart … :-)) I can’t tell whether the approach is too difficult for learners
As Foorgol stated, it is intentional. Select the correct correct German audio for the missing comic bubble.
I have the same worries as well. My German is beyond beginner, and I wanted to see if this can be effective for beginners. As far as the audio goes, this is the best program I have, and being non-native, I don’t want to contribute my own voice *even though I’m very familiar with reading and pronunciation. I would love to befriend a native who can contribute his or her voice for me.
I was changing around the format and tinkering. It was not the same as when I started the thread. I’m just trying to figure out what would be the most effective away to teach people using comic bubbles.
