that is not the best solution
the best solution is the creator to provide the necessary characters (which still exist in the course creation settings) or for the user to use the inbuilt keyboards of her OS/computer
It has worked every day for a couple of years for me. Halfway through today’s practice, it stopped giving the correct characters.
I exited the application and the google browser, restarted both and now it is working again.
Hi Hydroptere,
yes, now as you say it: I can remember one thread where exactly this was the suggestion for the course contributors to provide / configure ALL necessary letter/character buttons, to workaround the “newer hinted keyboard buttons”
I know it is not the best option to review courses without strict-typing, to strengthen a target language (incl. accents/diacritis), but I have to admit:
It is much faster to type words or full sentences when I have to fight hard anyways, to get through my reviews (honestly I somehow fail to completly cleanup my review backlog queues with “all typing” :().
.
.
PT BR Basic and PT BR 1-7 are not set-up as “strict typing”.
So I would have to install/configure a Portuguese hardware Windows keyboard (the defaults do not map that well onto my German keyboard), or I would have to press those Memrise on-screen keyboard buttons multiple times with the mouse when I type all the longer phrases/sentences from the offical Memrise courses.
Neither is a really good option, unless I take my take and re-configure/build my own Windows keyboard…
Maybe I will focus on the strict-typing and diacritics in my 3rd/4th learning year, hopefully?
Somehow I need to try to push forward in my 2nd year…honestly…it’s enough hard even with “Auto accept” activated…
Do you think I am on a completely wrong way?
I mean there is not only Memrise with multiple courses, but Mondly, DuoLingo 2x reverse tree, uTalk, Pod101, etc.
@Hydroptere
Or would it be 1000% better to really focus on self-writing Portuguese words with 100% correct diacritics and investing my time there?
Sorry to bother you with stuff like that…but those questions came quickly to my mind.
Viele Grüße
Thomas
