Sorry, I don’t see any error message. Perhaps I am overlooking something in your screenshot.
What does the error say?
Can’t find the course CME3!
Could find 1 and 4 … Wel finally, took me forever, needed to search for ‘memrise chinese-made-easier’ on Google (including the dashes!) to find it. Just for reference:

For me it worked (see screen shot), it could load the session. It seems that it is device or location related.
Could you give some more info. For example, does it happen always? Does it happen with any course, or only this one? With every level or only a specific one?
Could you confirm that we are talking about the same course, because as you can see below the CME4 as (also) a revised version. If I am tested one version and you another it doesn’t help really…

I believe that the error resulted from the fact that the course was finished and I still tried to proceed.
That is actual possible, though I think you have at least one word left (or at least the App thinks so). If there is a problem with that one word, then you may get this error. I now remember, I’ve seen two other situations. So in summary:
Three possible causes for ‘Sorry there was an error loading the session’ error:
- by accident the translation was empty.
- the/one word had been deleted, but in the App’s still didn’t know there was one word less
- and as mentioned earlier, a bad internet connection
