- How do you sync progress with the site?
- How do you filter the number of courses in the left panel?
- How you review several or “all” courses at once?
- To make sure it syncs, I usually just close the app and open it again.
- I’m not sure you can, I’ve never tried.
- I don’t think you can.
Thanks.
On one, do you also then run the chance you have to re-download the courses for offline use?
I’m not sure what you mean.
In the top-right of the app there’s a checkmark in a circle. Clicking it downloads the course for offline use. Is there a chance that after you close the app or the tablet you have to do that again?
If I want to use the app anywhere other than my home, I have to use it like that, as I then won’t have an internet connection.
Edit: I turned my tablet on and off, with wifi off. I still see the courses, so I guess it should be okay.
@Arete_Hime ~ if you have any image-based courses, one thing you might also want to try is put your device into Airplane mode and see if you can still access the image-based courses. I have not always had complete success with this functionality (in that mode) on the iOS app. Maybe the Android app works better in that mode.
Nope, the offline courses do not get deleted with sync. You can delete them manually when you tap the checkmark again, but other than that, they should stay downloaded.
If you sign out from app all downloaded courses will be gone. Closing and reopening does not always make the app to sync, but this has gotten better after the last updates.
With the offline courses, I would every so often delete and reload it, in order to have access to recent mems or corrections.
(And I would do that from my phone’s cache or saved data)
But nowadays, with a small memory phone, I only work wifi-connected (at home) or with mobile data (on the go), Memrise is not hungry on Mb for downloads so it works for me. Even if I am a PRO member I find it satisfactory that way. (I now function with Memrise at 44Mb ROM instead of 300+ with just 2 downloaded courses).
The progress update of points works also by “sliding down” the leaderboard for example.
I don’t hesitate to delete courses off my list to have less to manage. I read that the site remembers your progress even when you leave a course. Hope it’s true
I choose to review my courses by blocks of 25 words, so I wait for a course to reach that level to review it. Working on several languages, I can’t imagine having to cope with a review mixed bag of German>French, German>English, Chinese>French and Chinese>English reviews.

I learn on my android, and if my desktop browser is up and memrise is open… my courses and my points are synced immediately, if that is what you asked.
-
All the courses you are learning, or having set daily goal, or if you are in any groups… app will have all those courses lined up. I had to quit all groups and reduce my course load to “only” 16 courses I am taking right now So, now that list is manageable.

If you have courses that are “same” kind, you can review them together in desktop memrise application. For example, I use filter “French” and it gives me list of all my French courses, and gives me button “review” with the number of all words to review in that specific language. I am not sure you can do that in with android app.
If I share a device with someone who also wants to use Memrise then every time we switch between accounts we erase the downloaded courses?
