Hi,
I’m a huge fan of Memrise but there is one option which is absent but that could be really great. Namely, I’d love if the multiple choice questionnaire could propose some wrong or absurd possible answers.
If I get it correctly, as things stand right now in the MCQs the various possible answers are generated by the site based on other possible answers. As a result, all the answers are correct in some way or form. Unfortunately, this random component limits the range of uses for the site. Instead (if the creator of the class chooses to do so) there could be non-random answers written during the creation of the class, some of which could be totally wrong.
The site as it is works for vocabulary drills where there is but one possible answer but it is close to totally useless for grammar and conjugation.
I guess an example would make it clearer.
As things are today, if the question is to conjugate the verb to go at the 3rd person the possible answers could be something like:
- I go
- You go
- We go
- He goes
It’s easy to spot the “he” and the fact that it comes with a “es” at the end is lost on the person taking the test.
So instead the question could come with some ready-made wrong answers that would make it more challenging for the test-taker. For instance, the same question as above could look like this:
- He goet
- He gos
- He goer
- He goese
- He goes
- He goez
In the same way, there could be something looking like
- I go to school
- I go at school
- I go for school
- I go in school
I hope you see what I mean. This addition (I’m conscious it cannot be a simple thing to do) would be tremendously helpful to learn grammar and conjugation (but also math, chemistry, coding and so on).
Hope it can be done and that I didn’t somehow made a total fool of myself.
Best
