Why has Memrise become so complicated? I don’t know if it is my age or not, as I am 60 years old, but everything seems to have become extremely complicated, even for the speed review. It would be nice if you could revise as many cards as you want and it simply told you when you got one wrong and filed it and presented it to you again at a later date, then again until you get it right two or three times in a row. However, it seems like it limits the amount you can learn in a session, a maximum of 150, then with just two or three wrong ones, takes you back to a list that you got wrong, then you have to start again; it is a needless waste of time. I also wish we could get rid of all the excessive and rather pointless statistics, leaderboards and information regarding the upcoming zombie apocalypse. I guess the problem is that I come from the days when we had cards and wrote on them. Simple and effective, but a bit of a nuisance to carry around. I wish Memrise would have an option that we can simply use it instead of these and nothing else. A simple option in the settings perhaps.

I think they’re trying to gamify the app. By making three mistakes in Speed Review, you “lose” the game. For some people, it’s fun and exciting.
